Options for Youth - Duarte, Inc. is Hiring a Superintendent Near Pasadena, CA

Job Description Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the position will directly supervise Options for Youth schools and be responsible for instructional direction and decisions. This position will also be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the overall curriculum, instruction, assessment, special programs, staff development, and general business operations. Responsible for academic achievement, increasing enrollments, and retention of all students in all charters. Also responsible for developing new, evaluation, coordination, and implementation of educational programs and for performing related administrative duties. Overseeing education staff to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities to meet the goals of the school are being carried out in accordance with specified school vision and mission, state objectives, and state standards. Works as liaison with the Board, districts, and state offices. Manages budgets and expenses of the school.Supervises training, special education, directors, and facilities. Monitors all academic indicators and provides input into special projects. The primary goal of this position is to support and carry out the goals of the school and the Board of Directors. Essential Functions include, but are not limited to, the following: * Work closely and supervise school leaders, principals, and staff, to best meet the student’s educational needs. Manage all Budgets and ensure schools fiscal performance. In conjunction with the Board, works with the principals and outside consultants to develop, maintain, and revise curriculum documents based on systematic review and analysis. Knowledge of state-specific curricular standards, assessment and accountability standards. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with principals, teachers, school staff, district personnel, and community-based organizations. Report on the status of curriculum and instructional programs and services, including assessment and evaluation information, at the request of the Board. Analyze and disaggregate data from student testing results. Project annual revenue for school and oversee title funds Oversees the development and implementation of all staff training programs and new staff development, including Credential clearing programs. Initiates, schedules and performs in-service training for new educational programs and instructional materials. Works closely with principals to ensure curriculum and training meet the needs of the student population. Direct teaching staff to provide educational and vocational guidance for students. Works with the state to attain W.A.S.C. accreditation and monitors progress of action plans regularly. Supervises school communication with district and county offices. Actively involved in the field/schools observing and evaluating all educational programs. Attends all educational conferences and encourages others to attend as needed. Ensures all schools are implementing and receiving the same opportunities in regards to programs for students and staff. Monitors and supports principals and their assigned areas to ensure schools and programs are being maximized. Oversee facilities, new site locations and build outs. Initiate the development of programmatic goals and instructional objectives on a state-wide basis with in the scope of the school’s policy, board direction, assessed student needs and operational constraints. Establish a systemic approach to curriculum and instructional planning, development, implementation and evaluation. In conjunction with the Board, provide leadership, oversight and direction for the overall activities of planning all instructional support programs. Provide leadership for a collaborative team to ensure that curriculum and instructional initiatives are student focused and aligned with the school’s mission. Monitors and oversees incentives Plans and monitors education program budgets. Directs teaching staff to provide educational and vocational guidance for students. Evaluates performance of student progress, education programs, supervisors and managerial staff. Serves as a resource for parents, teachers, and district personnel to provide problem resolution or guidance as needed. Oversees accreditation, special education, graduation and student needs. Perform other administrative functions and duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Knowledge of learning theory, program planning, curriculum development and management of instructional programs. Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements in the area of responsibility. Ability to train, direct and delegate responsibility to senior staff. Ability to cooperatively collaborate with government staff and boards to meet business needs and reach Company goals. Ability to interpret and implement laws, rules and policies. Ability to facilitate various size groups using facilitative leadership skills. Skills in written and oral communication, planning and organization. Knowledge of current educational trends, methods, research and technology. In-depth knowledge of assigned curriculum, program, or service area. Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data. Ability to work collaboratively with others. Ability to travel at least 40% of the time. Education and Experience: Master’s Degree (M.A) Five years of experience in school administration or district administration and leadership of curriculum and instruction.
