Title: PE Associate – Healthcare
Location: Boston Metro
Start Date: Summer 2025
Our Client is one of the most active buyout firms in the country dedicated to healthcare and pharma services. The firm manages approximately $7B of total assets, having invested in 200 platform and add-on acquisitions over its 20-year history. They target investments towards patient-centric healthcare organizations dedicated to providing best-of-class clinical care to patients nationwide, or leading outsourced services providers to life sciences clients. The firm closed its fifth flagship fund in 2022 at $1.7B of total committed capital; an oversubscribed vehicle that is nearly double the size of its previous fund. Currently raising Fund VI and expected to exceed $2B. Associates receive differentiated levels of responsibility and access to both existing portfolio companies and new investment opportunities; interacting regularly with founders/sellers and firm advisors, working closely with portfolio company executives in various financial and operational areas, travel as necessary, participate in weekly investment committee meetings, and attend board meetings. Our Client provides its Associates tremendous opportunities to enhance their investment and deal execution experience. The firm also has a strong track record of promoting exceptional performers at the Associate level to Senior Associates and above.
The firm partners with profitable companies of approximately $20 to $200M in revenues and $3M to $25M in EBITDA. The firm invests in a broad spectrum of essential healthcare services (e.g. behavioral health services, fertility and women’s health, post-acute care, and physician practice management) and outsourced pharma services organizations. Other common investment themes include: asset lite, founder-owned, and scalable models that have a track record of expanding patient access and addressing structural supply/demand imbalances across the spectrum of healthcare. They close approximately 12-15 platform deals per fund over a multi-year period, with each platform being highly acquisitive following an initial investment.
The Role:
Evaluating new investments by assessing the attractiveness of potential new deals and forming a view on the industry, business model and company
Preparing investment memos, financial models, financial projections, and valuations
Conducting due diligence on prospective investment opportunities, including industry specific research and financial analysis
Assisting in coordination and management of third-party due diligence and participating in lender meetings
Monitoring existing investments and traveling to sites
Providing additional resources and analysis to management teams
Attending board meetings
