**Job Description: Oral Surgery Assistant**

**Location:** Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Centers, Inc.

**Position Overview:**

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Centers, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Oral Surgery Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional support to our surgeons, ensure patient comfort and safety, and maintain efficient operation of the surgical suite. This role involves a combination of clinical and administrative duties, aimed at delivering top-tier patient care.

**Key Responsibilities:**

1. **Clinical Assistance:**

- Prepare and set up surgical instruments and equipment for oral surgery procedures.

- Assist the surgeon during procedures by providing instruments, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring patient safety.

- Monitor and support patients' vital signs during surgery.

- Administer pre- and post-operative care, including patient education and instructions.

- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed.

- Assist with the administration of local anesthesia and conscious sedation under the supervision of the surgeon.

2. **Patient Management:**

- Greet and prepare patients for surgery, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns.

- Obtain and document patient medical histories and consent forms.

- Educate patients on post-operative care and follow-up instructions.

3. **Sterilization and Infection Control:**

- Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments and equipment.

- Follow strict infection control protocols to ensure a safe surgical environment.

4. **Administrative Duties:**

- Schedule patient appointments and manage the surgery schedule.

- Maintain accurate patient records, including treatment notes and billing information.

- Coordinate with insurance companies for patient billing and pre-authorizations.

- Manage inventory and order supplies as needed.

**Qualifications:**

- Certification as a Dental Assistant (CDA) or Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Assistant (OMSA) preferred. DAANCE or DAANCE eligible preferred.

- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in oral surgery or a related dental field.

- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and procedures.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
