Our Carolina Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice is looking for a motivated Surgical Assistant to join our talented surgical team with Dr. Derek J. Eaton!
This is a full-time (hourly, non-exempt) position: No evening or weekend hours.
Hours: Mon, Tues, Thurs 8-5, Wednesdays off, Friday 8-12. Paid shared call every third week.
Location: 660 Summit Crossing Place, Suite 303, Gastonia, NC 28054
Who you are:
You currently hold BLS certification.
You have experience in the dental or surgical assisting field
You are experienced with sterile processing and dental radiography.
You are an individual who has developed strong organizational skills and attention to detail
You have learned how to multi-task without losing your cool.
You have a positive attitude and well-groomed appearance.
You work well in a close team environment.
What you will do:
- Set up for non-sterile & sterile procedures with appropriate instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist surgeon during in office surgical procedures including suctioning, retracting, passing instruments, providing airway support under supervision of Oral Surgeon
- Circulates in on surgical procedures, completing necessary records, entries, paperwork, logs, etc.
- Performs other procedures as directed (x-ray, CT scan)
- Assist with consultations in preparation for procedure/surgery
- Assist in pre/post op care
- Preparing patient for surgery
- Checking all documents for accuracy
- Ensure solid communication between patient and doctor
- Monitoring vitals pre, during & post-surgery
- Accurately complete operative report
- Explaining post-operative care
- Sterilization of surgical equipment
- Strict adherence to all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and OSHA regulations/procedures
- Other duties as assigned
