Overview

The Permit Analyst performs technical and clerical review of building plans and issues permits consistent with departmental regulations. This is a technical position with significant responsibility that requires sound judgment and excellent customer service skills. Work is performed with considerable independence under the supervision of the Assistant Fire Marshal.
Representative Duties
Based on assignment may perform the following duties:
Assists with the issuance of fire permits, inspections, and plan submittal processes.
Communicates and interacts effectively assisting customers in person and by telephone with policy and procedure associated with obtaining and completing building permits and/or fire related permits.
Reviews applications for completeness and compliance with departmental requirements.
Resolves customer’s problems and refers complex problems to supervisor as needed.
Sorts and inputs inspection schedules and results.
Accepts plans and checks for required seals, signatures, documented calculations, cost estimates, and/or fire protection system permits.
Stamps and routes plans.
Provides excellent customer service both personally and by telephone.
Assists with the issuance of a variety of specialty event permits utilized throughout the County
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of technical/clerical experience including customer service; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
Must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with the general public while discussing, explaining and interpreting departmental policies.

Salary Information
$ 18.80 - 21.15 per hour

Educational Requirements
If your education was obtained in the United States, the County recognizes degrees or diplomas which are accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). If you have obtained education from a country other than the United States, your degree or diploma must be evaluated to determine the United States equivalency by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Service (NACES) or the Association of International Credentials Evaluations (AICE) at your expense.
