TITLE: Yard Duty I: Playground Supervisor
DEPARTMENT/SITE: School Site
REPORTS TO: Site Principal or designee
SALARY: Range 6

WORK YEAR: 182 Days

GENERAL SCOPE
Under the general supervision of the school principal or designee, the Yard Duty I: Playground
Supervisor provides for the safety and welfare of students during non-classroom activities;
minimizes the frequency and/or severity of harmful incidents; and communicates observations
and/or incidents that have a potential impact on the general well being of students.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
? Supervises children during lunch period and other times
? Monitors and enforces school rules, policies, and procedures
? Monitors student safety
? Provides immediate care and seeks assistance for injured students
? Maintains order and proper discipline on the playground, in the halls or wherever assigned
? Assists students in the resolution of problems
? Completes reports, including incident reports
? Maintains communication with staff and administration
? Performs other related duties as required
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
? School rules, policies, and procedures
? Methods of dealing with students firmly but fairly
? Safety rules
? Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy

GENERAL SCOPE
Under the direction of the Chief Business Office (CBO) or designee, the Universal Food Program Assistant will manage, organize and facilitate the distribution and logistics whereby students collect the various meals over the school day as per the various state and federal food programs available to the district.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Use the district lunch software systems to facilitate and track the various meal programs, including scanning, organizing, printing labels etc.
Manage volunteers to ensure compliance with food and health regulations
Communicate to volunteers using district communication platforms, as needed
Facilitate volunteer sign ups and coverage
Arrive on site and label the lunch food
Organize the food distribution area and food lines
Oversees and assists with the service of food to students during meals.
Clean and sterilize utensils, machines, and other equipment used during kitchen preparation
Ensure that students are served correct breakfast/lunch,
Store and handle food in safe ways, collect daily diners lists and send them to the front office, report items needed in the kitchen to the CBO or designee, and participate in staff meetings.
Monitor expiration dates of all food/beverages.
Report lunch software issues to the CBO or designee.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Modern office methods and practices including computers and programs used for word processing, spreadsheets and database systems
Record keeping techniques
Operation of computer and data entry skills
Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy
Oral and written communication skills
First aid procedures
Ability to:
Work confidently with discretion
Organize and prioritize time and material and work independently, demonstrating ability to perform in situations requiring tact, courtesy and good judgment
Work with children, while remaining flexible and patient, particularly when busy
Print and write legibly
Learn procedures, functions, and limitations of assigned duties
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Maintain confidentiality
Lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Education equivalent to completion of twelfth grade or a high school diploma or GED

Certificates: Must obtain ServSafe Food Handler Certificate within 30 days of hire

Experience: Experience in a school district or a public agency in food service is preferred
