ORAU is Hiring an Administrative Assistant Near Ridge, TN

Appointment Type: Full-Time Regular (FTR)

Location: Oak Ridge, TN or Remote (U.S. Based Locations)

*Salary Range: $19.97 - $26.71 per hour

PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to primarily provide administrative assistance to support project deliverables, activities, task initiatives, and ongoing efforts of the DOE Human Subjects Protection Program including the Central Department of Energy Institutional Review Board (CDOEIRB). Duties will include providing logistic support for meetings, board requirements and activities, travel, project deliverables, procurement activities, and other support needs. This position will also be expected to have or gain a working knowledge of the rules and regulations that affect the DOE Human Subjects Protection Program and take an active role in learning roles and responsibilities of other team members.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides general administrative assistance to support project deliverables, activities, task initiatives, and ongoing efforts of the DOE Human Subjects Protection Program. Areas of support to include but not limited to the CDOEIRB, stakeholder engagement and communication, training database management, and creating/maintaining user accounts.
  • Provides support to the ORAU team and serves as the point of contact for purchase requests and other procurement needs.
  • Coordinates and processes required agreements, reports, and other requests/documentation.
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings and travel arrangements.
  • Participates in opportunities to learn more about the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process, human subjects’ protection history and approaches, and IRB administration.
  • Other duties as assigned, including participation in programmatic meetings, required annual training, and ORAU-led initiatives, as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma and 4 – 6 years of job-related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience requiring similar knowledge, skills, abilities, and performing duties as described may be substituted for the minimum requirements.

  • Experience supporting a research organization, academic institution, research program, or institutional review board is desired, but not required.
  • Must be proficient in the use of MS Office Applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be self-directed and capable of processing and prioritizing multiple tasks and handling a large and varied workload with minimum supervision.
  • Must have business knowledge and perspective to compile, review, and analyze data.

*The candidate’s starting salary will be determined upon hire and ORAU will use salary survey data, internal comparators, and the candidate’s qualifications to determine salary.
