DescriptionORBIS is seeking a Business Development Analyst to track leads, facilitate stakeholder communication, and manage projects as part of a growing business development team in the federal contracting space. This is an opportunity to grow into a corporate role contributing to company growth. We will provide specialized training in business development, capture, proposal writing, and proposal management to the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate competitive and sole source proposal and market survey responses
- Schedule business development meetings and manage stakeholder communications
- Interact regularly with company ownership, senior management and operational staff
- Work and coordinate with ORBIS subject matter experts and advisors to improve Team BD products and processes
- Become familiar with ORBIS offerings and core competencies supporting key client
- Assist in managing customer relationships, tracking business opportunities on a multi-year scale, and applying project management principles to all current ORBIS capture efforts
- Provide administrative support to ORBIS’ Business Development function, including ordering meals, document production, and managing Team BD's weekly calendar.
- Complete all required business development training
- Conduct market research and identify leads
- Review, edit, and write classified whitepapers and other RFP/proposal content in the ORBIS classified proposal development space.
- Track and analyze business development activities using a variety of software tools
- U.S. Citizenship
- Clearance: TS/SCI is preferred, but willing to sponsor for a clearance. Should be able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI level clearance.
- Bachelor's degree
- 1-2 years of professional experience
- Be able to thrive in a small, high-performing team, with many opportunities for increased responsibility and advancement in the firm
- Willingness to work long hours when necessary, in a Herndon-based SCIF to meet tight proposal deadlines
- Demonstrated focus on achieving business outcomes through hard work and communication
- Willingness and eligibility to be submitted on an ORBIS prime contract for a TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance upgrade.
- Willingness to travel between Herndon and McLean for frequent in-person business meetings.
- Willingness to learn key business development skills, including how to deliver an “elevator pitch”, how to run a proposal effort and how to evaluate and assess ORBIS’ ability to win new business leads
- Ability to work well both in a team and independently
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to create original content using interview and research techniques
- Previous experience working in or near the U.S. Intelligence Community
- Demonstrated ability to work with data across varying systems and formats
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Demonstrated focus on customer relationships and communication to achieve tangible business results
- Familiarity with federal contracting
- Previous educational or professional experience working with large datasets
- Previous technical writing experience
- Program or project management experience
- Previous proposal experience (competitive and/or sole source)
- A solution-oriented mindset and intellectual curiosity
- Self-motivated, polished professional with excellent communication and organizational skills
