Oregon City School District 62 is Hiring a TOSA Bilingual Dean of Students Near Milwaukie, OR

Position Summary

In cooperation with the building administrator(s), the Dean of Students will assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining school-wide academic and behavior supports and interventions to meet the needs of all students, staff, and parents. The Dean of Students will work to improve attendance, support school safety by implementing school and district procedures, and assist the administration with school improvement efforts. This position serves as a resource for building staff, administrators, and parents in working with students, creating a positive school climate, and helping students develop a positive self-concept.


Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with the building administrator(s) on applying the Code of Conduct and enforcement of policies.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and implement disciplinary interventions and processes, including PBIS and restorative practices, working closely with the building administrator(s), school team and staff.
  • Work with the building attendance team to collect and analyze attendance and behavior data to be shared with the building administrator(s).
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate orally and in writing with clarity and conciseness.
  • Use relationship-building and PBIS strategies to increase students’ individual decision-making responsibilities.
  • Work with the building administrator(s) on innovative practices to improve attendance, reduce truancy, and improve student behavior.
  • Collaborate with the administrator(s), demonstrate a strong sense of team, and serve on committees as appropriate.
  • Develop and foster community connections that will enhance the educational experience of all students and families.

General

  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Work effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, and respond with culturally responsive practices and communication.
  • Follow all District policies, work procedures, and reasonable requests by direct and district supervisors and/or outside agencies.
  • Maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, and District patrons.
  • Confer regularly with immediate supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to exercise some independent judgment while adhering to prescribed policies and procedures and perform the essential functions of the position with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships and work in partnership with supervisors, other staff, students, and the general public.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism in all situations.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Successful completion of criminal history records check, as required by law.
  • Valid Oregon teaching license with a minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience.
  • Strong, collaborative leadership skills.
  • Innovative team player interested in expanding opportunities for all students.
  • Successful experience utilizing communication skills with students, staff and parents.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with restorative practices; willing to learn and implement.
  • Experience supporting student behaviors and understanding of best practices for Social Emotional Learning.
  • Understanding of Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
  • Strong lens on educational equity and serving the needs of diverse students.

This position is 1.0 FTE; 201 days per year.
