Benefits to You

  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees, including mental health coverage.

Position Highlights

The Jackson County Circuit Court in Medford, Oregon, is hiring a Jury Clerk (Court Operations Associate) to join our team in the Jury, Records & Calendaring Unit.

In this role, you will provide jury management by explaining all aspects of our petit (trial) jury and grand jury processes to potential jurors. You will review online juror responses, dismiss or postpone potential jurors’ service as needed, scan and enter documents into juror records, prepare and record our nightly juror reporting messages, and conduct in-person juror orientation sessions for scheduled trials. You will also assemble and distribute juror lists for the courtrooms and maintain juror attendance and payroll records. In completing your work, you will interact with the public, judges, court staff, and other agencies; the support you provide will be in person, over the phone, in writing, and through fax.

For grand juries, you will send letters to potential jurors, conduct in-person orientation, issue jury oaths, swear in potential alternate jurors, assemble and populate jurors into prospective panels after orientation, maintain juror records, and notify the supervisor when grand jury payroll is ready to review and submit.

Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

AND

At least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.

OR

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines in a busy business or professional setting.

Working Conditions

  • This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek.
  • Occasional before-hours or after-hours work may be required.
  • Providing a one-hour jury orientation session for up to 100 jurors each week may be required.
  • Daily contact with the public regarding court processes, including working with parties involved in civil, family, and criminal court cases.
  • This is a fast-paced, high-volume office environment with multiple deadlines and interruptions daily, which requires careful time management, attention to detail, and multitasking—often concurrently.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma.
  • Daily data entry and working with confidential documents and information.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, and kneeling may be required.
  • Lifting up to 40 pounds of office material or equipment may be required.
  • Long periods of sitting or standing.
  • Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, multimedia equipment, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
  • The qualified candidate must start the process of CJIS clearance within the first week of hire.
