Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) ASOSU Outreach Coordinator position with ASOSU at Oregon State University (OSU).
The Outreach Coordinator’s primary duty is to support the ASOSU executive branch in forging and enhancing relationships with Oregon State’s student body and community. This involves organizing, interacting, and communicating with the student body through tabling events, club and Greek life chapter presentations, and marketing ventures. This role will also involve coordinating with the other executive branch members to ensure accurate and equitable participation in outreach and engagement events.
Given the limited hours and timeline of ASOSU’s advocacy, these responsibilities (including those provided below) may be amended or vary depending on the ongoing needs or emergent issues and/or circumstances.
Position Duties
  • Support the ASOSU President and Vice President’s platform policies;
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive student engagement outreach strategy so that all branches in the ASOSU participate in tabling events, presentations, and other related activities;
  • Communicate with other student organizations and associations to schedule presentations, distribute resources, and be knowledgeable and in attendance at all related tabling events;
  • Facilitate the sign-ups for such events with all ASOSU members so that each member equally participates in outreach efforts;
  • Facilitate the coordination of relative exec branch members to relative presentations and student groups;
  • Serve as a representative and advocate for student engagement and marketing efforts in university meetings, committees, and events;
  • Collaborate with Outreach Committee in ASOSU Congress in outreach efforts.
  • Attend regular Public Relations Team and all-executive staff meetings; attend Congress committee meetings pertaining to the position and its respective duties (i.e. Outreach Committee in ASOSU Congress);
  • Provide a report to the ASOSU Congress at least once per term;
  • Assist the Chief of Staff by providing relevant input during expenditure processes;
  • Meet with the ASOSU Advisor biweekly for one-on-one meetings;
  • Meet regularly with and report to the ASOSU President and Vice President;
  • Send the Chief of Staff a schedule of working hours at the beginning of each academic term.
  • Serve and work on additional committees and campaigns, such as the Voter Registration Drive and ASOSU Elections, at the direction of the ASOSU President;
  • Other duties as assigned by the ASOSU President and Vice President.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
  • International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
  • ASOSU Constitution eligibility requirements:
    • Be currently admitted to the university.
    • Be eligible for student employment with the university except for requirements regarding credit hours or eligibility for enrollment in the United States.
    • Have been previously enrolled in at least one prior OSU or college-level credit, or be enrolled in first term at Oregon State University
  • Must be available for training for the week of September 16th, 2024.
  • Undergraduate students shall have earned at least six credits hours in their most recently completed term, be currently registered for at least six credit hours, not be on conduct probation, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.00
  • Graduate students shall have earned at least five hours of credit in their most recently completed term, be currently registered for at least five hours, not be on conduct probation, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00.
  • A commitment to promoting and advancing diversity and creating an atmosphere of inclusion;
  • Communication skills in areas including but not limited to interpersonal, public speaking, digital, verbal, and written communications;
  • Ability to manage time and work accurately with interruptions to meet a deadline;
  • Work well under pressure, exercising flexibility, initiative, good judgment, and discretion
  • Willingness to be adaptable, to accept changes and try new things;
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Experience working with organizations focusing on student advocacy, campus involvement, diversity and inclusion, or other related areas;
  • Experience in leading and directing individuals.
  • Experience with project management and coordinating teams.
