Position Purpose:

The Senior Implementation Consultant will install and configure software and hardware components to provide an effective solution to the client. The role will liaise with and provide support to the client during the implementation and will facilitate knowledge transfer to the client. They will apply knowledge and experience to the diagnosis and solving of problems and issues. As part of the project team, the Implementation Consultant interacts with the Project Manager and project team to ensure the solution is delivered on time and meets or exceeds the requirements of the customer – also participates in Lead role for junior technical team members.

Key Relationships:

Sr. Vice President–PSG/Principal Consultant, Development Teams, Project Teams and External Clients are key in order to ensure transfer of knowledge and OPEN communication behaviours.

Essential Functions:

Technical Expertise

• Design, configure, test, and document applications based on a project's functional and business requirements. This includes front-end design, database design, configuration of hardware and applications
• Participating and/or executing the multiple stages of testing (i.e. Unit, System, Integration, Performance, Regression)
• Understanding RDBMS and performing data extractions, conversions and manipulations.
• Supports the Solution Architect in the estimation process on level of effort for detailed tasks within the project plan. The Sr. IC should have sufficient product knowledge to understand the components necessary for estimation to assist in providing inputs to Estimation Sheet and add-on work
• Participate in technical brown bag sessions to improve the knowledge base of technical team members
• Assists or leads reviews and signs-off on artifacts from all project phases – Uses Cases, estimates, HLDs, code, test plans – to make sure they meet requirements and the architectural vision for the project and product

Project Delivery

• Preparation and maintenance of technical documentation for project team and client deliverables
• Installation and deployment of completed software or demo products
• Reviewing and providing feedback on proposed solutions to be implemented
• Leads client meetings, internal team meetings, and communicate as needed by the PM or SA.
• Mentors junior team members and participates in activities to increase the knowledge base of Orion technical staff

Post-implementation Support

• Maintenance, performance tuning, and support of implemented software products

Relevant Experience:

• 6 years of implementation experience
• Application of structured implementation methodology
• Communicating technical issues to business people, and business issues to technical people
• Proven ability to understand and implement multi-component integrated solutions
• Experience using Web Technologies such as: HTTP, HTML, Web Services, XML/XLST, J2EE, .net, Java/Java Scripting
• Experience using System to System messaging: Structured Messaging (particularly XML, HL7 x12 would be an advantage) & Message queuing (particularly JMS)
• Experience with RDBMS Database Technologies: SQL Query Writing, SQL Tuning, and Microsoft SQL Server & Oracle platforms (one is a must, both an advantage)
• Understanding of UML Modeling, and Multi-Tier Architectures
• Experience with Server Operating Systems (both Windows & Unix an advantage), TCP/IP, Clustering and Load Balancing (an advantage), Issue/ Defect Tracking tool exp.
• Experience with third party systems
• Familiar with multi tenant architecture
• Experience and fluency with other languages such as French and or Spanish is helpful

Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience. Master's Degree is a plus
