OrthoIllinois is Hiring a Rehab Technician - PRN Near Rockford, IL

Job Purpose:

The Rehabilitation Technician assists the flow of patient care between the therapist and patient along with the support of overall clinic operations. The Rehabilitation Technician is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining the clinic, including tables, equipment, and other tools. The Rehabilitation Technician assists patients to examination and treatment rooms and prepares rooms for various clinic procedures.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

·Assist treating clinician with patient supervision during the treatment program as needed

·Maintains therapeutic equipment to ensure that facilities are kept clean and organized, including returning equipment to proper storage between uses and removing materials or debris from treatment areas

·Cleans and maintains the clinic area, including sterilizing therapeutic equipment, folding towels, stocking supplies, and preparing supplies as needed

·Disposes hazardous waste and soiled materials following safety protocols

·Ensures patients are able to physically travel through the facility by arranging for any necessary accommodations

·Orders and stocks medical supplies

·Organizes and maintains various files including evaluation folders, home programs, and business cards

·All other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in a therapy-related setting preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft and Google Suites

Environmental/Working Conditions:

Working environment is in an office/clinic setting.

Physical/Mental Demands:

·Stand for long periods of time, walk for periods of time, kneel, crawl, stoop, and climb stairs.

·Requires lifting, carrying, or moving heavier objects i.e., pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.

·Possess full range of motion in shoulders and arms, including reaching above or below the shoulder.

·Finger dexterity, the ability to twist hands/wrists repetitively, pushing/pulling against stiff joints, using a variety of holds; demonstrating exercises, lifting/raising over shoulder height.

·Vision (e.g., depth perception, color vision, strong vision up close). Rehabilitation staff must be able to watch/observe all patient exercise/movement in order to be able to prevent improper performance and maintain safety. Good vision will also assist in recognizing patients’ non-verbal pain responses.

·Hearing (e.g., high pitch sounds, soft or distant sounds). Rehabilitation staff must be able to hear patients’ potential verbalization of pain in response to care/treatment within (at times) a loud clinic.
