OrthoLoneStar is Hiring a Medical Records Clerk II Near Austin, TX

General Job DescriptionPerform a variety of clerical duties involved in maintaining patient medical records in accordance with established policies and procedures. Support RCM department for timely billing.
Essential Functions
  • Utilize various types of technology with speed and accuracy.
  • Collate, sort and identify a variety of medical information for scanning/queuing into EMR system.
  • Maintain oversight of various sources in which medical records and actionable items are received and process accordingly.
  • Obtain records from outside facilities and import accordingly to support proper billing for all pertinent services rendered; includes, but not limited to, creating appointments.
  • Maintain daily logs to track outstanding items, including provider dictations, to determine deficient chart notes. Communicate with providers on actionable items needed to ensure completion of notes. Report to supervisor all incomplete and missing documentation accordingly.
  • Assist in overseeing timely submission of completed notes to referring providers. Communicate provider contact changes with appropriate staff member in order to keep EMR directory current.
  • Note any discrepancy in chart information and report to Supervisor (ex. Duplicate chart numbers/misfiles).
  • Serve as overflow for Release of Information Clerk to provide support with medical record releases as needed.
  • Work closely with OrthoLoneStar billing representatives to support timely billing.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education : High School diploma or equivalent
Experience
  • Previous administrative experience
  • Proficient computer skills – Outlook, general Microsoft Office functionality, copy & paste function, ability to move in and out of applications with ease
Licensure Special Skills :
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and communication skills
  • Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients and the public.
Physical Demands
  • Must have adequate visual acuity to read, the ability to interpret and understand written material.
  • Must have full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 pounds (specifically in the archiving process).
Environmental Working Conditions
  • Indoors with rare conditions of extreme noise.
  • Continuously handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work as a part of a team.
  • Frequently performs tedious and exacting work in frustrating conditions with frequent changes in tasks.
  • Rare conditions of chemicals/fumes/odors/dust
