Orthopaedic Institute for Children is Hiring a Patient Transporter/General Maintenance Technician Near Los Angeles, CA

PATIENT TRANSPORTER AND GENERAL MAINTENANCE
SUMMARY

Transporting patients and clients utilizing company vehicles to and from Calexico, CA. in a safe and professional manner. Maintain company vehicle and outdoor grounds in our Calexico, CA facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Transportation

Transporting patients and clients utilizing company vehicles in a safe and professional manner, arriving at destinations on schedule.
Research and plan for traffic, construction and weather delays. Use navigation applications to determine the best route.
Safely move, lift and position patients with medical equipment (wheelchair, walkers). Assist clients/patients as needed to safely complete the transfer.
Communicating effectively with manager and program coordinator regarding schedule and arriving instructions. Notify manager of driving incidents, citations, or any other occurrences that may affect DMV driving record.
Maintain a professional image and attitude in regards to patients, family members and co‐workers. Respect patient confidentiality when transporting by not discussing patient issues.
Complete daily vehicle pre-shift and post-shift inspections, and maintain vehicle cleanliness. Arrange for vehicle repairs as needed. Keep mileage records and repair records up-to-date. Ensure that the vehicle is always fueled and ready for use.
Demonstrate courtesy and customer service by greeting patients and visitors professionally and courteously at all times.

General Maintenance:

Maintain outdoor grounds. Remove debris from sidewalks and empties trash and recycling bins. Clean the interior of building in needed.
Report to manager any building/equipment / alarm damage or malfunction.
Maintain cleaning inventory, submit orders for new products when needed.
Perform all duties as assigned by manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

GED or High School Diploma.
Previous transportation of patients preferred, but not required.
Must have possessed a valid California Driver’s license for at least 2 years.
Exceed minimum age requirement of 18 years.
Pass a mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
Must be able to get non-ambulatory driver permit.
Must understand and communicate in Spanish. (both written and spoken)
Must pass a mandatory pre-employment criminal background and drug test.

Complexity:

Ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and aware while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries is paramount to success in this position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be physically able to step up and down steps, safely secure clients for transport, lift up to 50 lbs, and transport wheelchair and gurney patients on paved and unpaved surfaces.
Occasionally climbing, kneeling, running distance, walking, standing, lifting, pushing and pulling.
Frequently sitting, driving, hearing/listening, and seeing.
