Orthopedic Center of Florida is Hiring an Authorizations Near Fort Myers, FL
Job Summary:
Review and coordinate the authorization process for any services that require an authorization per payer guidelines.
Coordinates, tracks and documents all authorizations electronically.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Contact insurance company to see if authorization is needed for injections.
- Obtain authorization and document in chart
- Work with Medical Assistants and advise them of the status of authorization
- Maintain copies of request and the results
- Perform related work as required and other projects and duties as assigned
- Assist in insurance verification process
- Contact patient to obtain accurate insurance information
- Participate in educational activities and attend monthly staff meetings
Required Skills/Abilities:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Medical Terminology.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to orthopedics, podiatry, and pain management.
- Basic typing and keyboarding skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Familiarity with computers and other office equipment.
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities.
- Must be able to act calmly and effectively in busy or stressful situations.
- Knowledge of insurance plans and procedures.
- Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and peers.
- Maintains accurate and strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA Compliance of electronic and/or manual systems as established by the appropriate HIPAA protocols, regulations, and policies.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Requires manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, calculator, photocopier, and other office equipment.
- Requires occasional lifting up to 15 pounds unassisted. Requires frequent bending, reaching and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting.
- Ability to view computer screens for long periods of time.
