Cast Technician - The Cast Technician is a key member of the back-office staff who works closely with the Medical Assistants, Physicians, and our patients. The primary responsibility is application and removal of casts, splints and durable medical equipment. The Cast Technician oversees cast room maintenance to include supply ordering, equipment maintenance and autoclaving. The Cast Technician is responsible for training staff in application and removal of casts.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Cast application, cast removal, and wound-care (i.e. staple/suture removal, Steri-strip application)
• Entering orders, charges and documentation into electronic medical records.
• Assist providers with manipulation positioning and frame adjustments
• Fitting and providing patient education for durable medical equipment, including crutches, braces and splints.
• Instrument maintenance, including autoclaving and spore testing.
• Oversees and maintains cast and supply room stocking and inventory to include reorder of supplies as needed.
• Distribution and record keeping of Visco supplementation medications.
• Provide cast training and education for onboarding staff.
• Assisting staff with patient transfers to include use of Hoyer lift.

Qualifications

• Casting experience required.
• One (1) year of experience as a Casting Technician, Medical Assistant, Orthopedic Technologist (or similar role) in a high-volume medical practice with direct patient care is preferred but not required.
• Medical Assisting certification (CMA) is not required.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
