Job Summary:

The Physical Therapy Receptionist will greet patients, check patients in, answer phones, return voicemails, Phreesia updates, and scheduling/rescheduling patients.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Welcomes patients and visitors to the office by greeting them in person and on the telephone and answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members.
• Schedules appointments for the Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy assistant to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and most effective use of examining and treatment rooms. Prepares a daily schedule of examinations for each provider.
• Retrieves patient files, checks for correct sequence of papers, inserts new patient record forms, and places files in sequence for PT's examination or treatment.
• Is in charge of fax inbox, pulling/making charts.
• Assists with insurance verifications, checks for benefits, faxes L&I patient notes for the week, prepares physical medicine reports for the week.
• Checks renderings for the next day, checks with interpreters for next day patients,
• Runs collection reports, takes cash/checks/fee tickets to the billing office.
• Empties inbox and takes documents to scanning department.
• Orders DME supplies as needed.
• Maintains reception area in a neat and orderly condition.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Personality and demeanor to deal with the public and assist ill, older, or distraught patients.
• Basic office skills such as typing and filing.
• Good organizational skills.

Education and Experience:

• Graduate of a certified medical office training course preferred.
• High school graduate or equivalent required.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
