Summary: Under the direction of the Personal Property Deputy and/or County Appraiser, the Personal Property Clerk performs appraisal work within the personal property venue. This employee is required to gather data, classify, and value all types of personal property and/or assists all clerical personnel in meeting required deadlines. This position supports all activities of the clerical staff to ensure that all functions of the department are accomplished in accordance with Property Valuation Division (PVD) guidelines and State Statutes.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.
- Discover and list personal property.
- Conduct audits of businesses, oil and gas and personal property within the County.
- Understand and be able to explain the sub classes pertaining to personal property.
- Conduct payment under protest and equalization level hearings of personal property.
- Originate refunds on exempted tagged vehicles.
- Assist in filing exemption and grievance forms.
- Assist with preparation of the personal property tax roll for certification to the County Clerk.
- Assist with review of annual certification reports for errors and making corrections as needed.
- Assist with annual mailings of personal property renditions and value notices.
- Assist with annual year end personal property processes.
- Prepare personal property documents for scanning and indexing.
- Scanning and indexing personal property related documents.
- Assist with implementation of PVD changes as required.
- Assist with maintenance of re-calculations, penalties and 16/20 m trucks reports.
- Operate as the key contact person with CIC.
- Assist the public with questions and concerns about the valuation process.
- Order supplies and commodities as necessary for departmental functions.
- Other related duties as deemed necessary or as required.

Education and/or Experience:
Minimum Experience – At least one year experience working in a clerical office setting.
Minimum Education – High school degree or GED.
Preferred Experience - More than one year of experience working with appraisal, data collection, or other related experience.
