Introduction to the Role:

The candidate will join an exciting start-up with a nimble and fast-paced team that is pioneering therapeutics to cure blindness. This role will be an integral part of the CMC team, primarily focusing on the development of safe and effective drug products, ensuring that they meet regulatory and quality standards.

We are based in the vibrant incubator located in San Carlos, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform formulation experiments and analytical evaluation for small molecules and peptides development.
  • Prepare buffers, reagents, and other materials necessary for experiments.
  • Records experimental data, writes data summaries in digital lab notebook.
  • Interprets data and troubleshoots problems with some guidance.
  • Presents summarized results to lab group and department.
  • Contributes to drafting of technical reports, as necessary.
  • Ensures lab cleanliness and safety by maintaining equipment and technician attire, and keeping all samples properly labeled and stored.
  • Maintains common lab supply stocks as needed and general lab maintenance.
  • Contributes to lab management and equipment maintenance; may be subject matter expert for specific equipment or technology.

Required Skills and Background:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in a related discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry or academia
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: formulation development and/or analytical method development and qualification
  • Knowledge and understanding in formulation development, and analytical characterization is desirable.
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment, HPLC, pH meter etc
  • Ability to perform experiments with good aseptic technique.
  • Ability to follow written procedures/protocols precisely.
  • Careful attention to detail with critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in data analysis software
  • Strong scientific acumen and curiosity with a motivation to develop innovative medicines
  • Collaborative, self-starting spirit able to work both independently and as a part of a team
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in an environment with changing priorities

The anticipated base pay range for this role is $80,000 – $95,000 plus bonus and comprehensive benefits. Total compensation, including base salary to be offered, is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
