Description

The Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) serves about 9,200 students in 21 locations with approximately 1,500 staff members. We are seeking an experienced IT System Administrator to manage our district's technology infrastructure and systems.Under the direction of the Director of Technology, this position oversees the general management of the district’s technology infrastructure and systems. Special focus is given to technical infrastructure support, system capacity management, IT asset procurement and tracking, operations, and end-user usage. This position’s key goal is to provide technology solutions to support educational goals of the Oshkosh Area School District, specifically relating to reliability, expandability, and functionality of the technology infrastructure and services.This position is responsible for coordinating the installation, configuration, and support of all technology resources and ensuring the delivery of those resources to students, staff, administrators, and the Oshkosh community. Specifically, this position will work to monitor and maintain network systems and services.Essential Functions:1. Maintain and administer district technology systems and related environments.2. Analyze equipment performance records to determine the need for repair or replacement.3. Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records.4. Research new, leading edge technology, evaluate and recommend manageable solutions.5. Analyze alternatives and recommend the hardware/software solutions that best meet district needs.6. Create, track, and report on metrics of technology usage, functions, performance, issues, etc. to ensure effective use and support of OASD hardware/software systems.7. Maintain, improve, and test the district’s data backup, system recovery, and emergency response plans8. Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.9. Research, evaluate, and implement open source and cloud-based technology systems that meet district technology needs.10. Work with district staff to develop and leverage open database structures allowing district technology systems to share data and information11. Ensure that routine technology procedures around system maintenance are performed, recorded, and analyzed for improvement12. Work with team members to design, configure, and optimize technology infrastructure, edge devices, and software.13. Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes14. Confer with network users (administrators, teachers, students) to proactively solve problems to create an efficient work environment.15. Gather data pertaining to the district’s needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements.16. Work with the Director of Technology to prepare and manage the operating budget for technology infrastructure and systems. Coordinate with vendors and district personnel to facilitate purchases.17. Manage the professional development of the technicians which includes facilitating the cross-training of various technologies.18. Contribute to strategic IT plan development.19. Coordinate the maintenance of accurate IT asset tracking and licensing information.Other Responsibilities:1. Manage and maintain operation and security of on-premise and cloud-based servers and infrastructure systems, including Windows Server,VMWare, Microsoft Azure, virtualization, and disaster recovery systems. (35%)2. Maintain and upgrade network, server, and system hardware and software. (20%)3. Assist with the implementation of technology projects and rollouts across multiple school sites. (20%)4. Provide end-user support and troubleshoot issues for staff and faculty. (10%)5. Develop policies, documentation, and training materials for IT systems and software. (10%)6. All other duties as assigned (5%)7. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or illegal substance in the workplace in compliance with Policy 4122.01 - Drug-free Workplace throughout their employment in the district.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:1. Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent experience or certification.2. 5 years managing enterprise IT environments.3. Expert knowledge of Windows Server administration, VMWare virtualization, Microsoft Azure cloud, cybersecurity and disaster recovery systems.4. Experience in virtualizing servers and workstations as well as establishing adequate disaster recovery protocols required.5. Experience in designing, installing and troubleshooting networks for all technology systems including but not limited to WindowsOS, MacOS, ChromeOS,and iOS.6. Ability to interact tactfully and effectively with all persons encountered on the job.7. Excellent written and spoken communication and customer service skills.Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:1. Experience in K-12 school IT administration.2. ITIL, Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft, and VM Ware certifications preferred.3. Knowledge of Google Workspace for Education and Microsoft applications.
