Other Half Brewing Company is searching for a Taproom General Manager to join and support our Downtown Buffalo Taproom.

This position will supervise all areas of the Other Half Brewing Taproom as well as work closely with Marketing, Finance, Production staff and Senior Leadership.
The Taproom General Manager will supervise staff working in the tap room, manage and coordinate inventory with the brewery production workers.
The ideal candidate loves craft beer, is extremely organized and detail oriented, and able to work independently and make quick decisions. Additionally, the Taproom General Manager is expected to interact with patrons and event clients and a hospitable calm demeanor is important. A strong desire to collaboratively lead the direction of the tap room experience while staying up to date on market and industry trends and opportunities is essential.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Hiring, training and managing taproom staff.
- Conduct daily shift meetings, posting on Basecamp daily reminders, providing direction to all taproom employees of their responsibilities for their shift.
- Scheduling of serving personnel to ensure guest and event client satisfaction.
- Ordering of supplies and materials essential to the operation.
- Ensuring merchandise items are presented in an appropriate manner, customer facing, and organized.
- Effectively communicate with all departments, creating a team cohesive environment.
- Relationships with multiple vendors pertaining to the maintenance of all related facilities.
- Interacting with guests and clients to make them feel welcome and cared for, and ensuring that all taproom personnel do the same.
- Maintain beer menus via Square – keep menus and events current, create new beers to be added.
- Maintain POS – adding items/buttons for available items, maintaining upkeep of all POS systems, ensuring systems are being used appropriately.
- Maintaining a clean, friendly and welcoming environment for all guests at all times.
- Coordinating with Senior Leadership and Finance on reporting and forecasting.
- Ensuring the achievement of taproom goals as set by Management.
- Communicating beer (Production) and merchandise needs (Marketing) for inventory.
- Providing taproom team feedback on beer offerings to Management, Production.
- Management of taproom improvements and engagement around plans for tap room expansion/improvement.
- Engaging customers, clients and Sales accounts visiting the taproom, making sales, answering questions, and serving beer, busing tables as necessary/appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3 years minimum restaurant/retail (or similar) management experience – back and/or front of house.
- Customer service orientation.
- Previous brewery or craft beer experience a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of and interest in the craft beer industry.
- Proven success in a retail environment.
- Ability to interact professionally and effectively with employees, vendors, event clients and the general public.
- Experience in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to work independently and multi-task. The ability to think on your feet, learn, and adapt, is key.
- Strict attention to detail.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with POS systems and back office functions for reporting.
- Events planning and coordination knowledge.
- Time management and schedule management.
- Ability to move kegs and operate a hand truck. Long periods of standing and running around are inherent to the position.
The base pay range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 per year. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid within the range depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc.
