We focus primarily on HVAC&R systems providing services in design and analysis, prototyping, laboratory testing, field verification, and custom software development. Our team is largely comprised of mechanical engineers with a specialty in thermal science and interest in innovation, sustainability, and energy efficient design.

Role Description

OTS is seeking a full- or part-time technician to support activities in our laboratory in Beltsville, Maryland. This role works closely with the Laboratory Manager and Thermal Engineers to design and construct custom experimental test rigs used to evaluate HVAC systems and components. Work can include conventional plumbing, HVAC system installation and refrigerant piping, controls wiring, general electrical wiring, and general carpentry. Installations range in complexity and size, requiring a technician that is flexible, good at troubleshooting, and creative in finding solutions.

Qualifications

• EPA 608 certification and OSHA 10 certification are required
• Completed degree, certificate or 5 years of experience in HVAC installation and refrigerant plumbing
• Experience in plumbing, electrical wiring and general carpentry strongly preferred
• Effective communication skills, including an ability to explain technical information
• Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience with LabView and Diadem is a plus
• Ability to support US government-funded projects
