Our Blood Institute is Hiring an APHERESIS DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR Near Oklahoma, OK

PositionOur Blood Institute is looking for an Apheresis Development Coordinator who is responsible for all donor service apheresis programs relating to the optimization of automated collections. He/She will provide work direction, evaluation, and coordination of apheresis operations. He/She will be responsible for training the Donor Services staff in the appropriate ways to work with the donor to get buy in to automated collections and the correct automated procedure for the donor's blood type. He/She will work in conjunction with the DS leadership to ensure that processes are in place to reach optimal organizational efficiency by meeting collection, financial, and customer service goals.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, technical or college degree preferred
  • Minimum 1 year experience as an apheresis technician
  • Strong leadership, customer service, verbal and interpersonal communication, technical and organizational skills
  • Professional appearance and manner
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions
  • Strong project management skills are required
  • Flexible with work hours
Primary Responsibilities
  • Supports and educates all Donor Services staff in the appropriate way to work with the public to ensure that the donor is matched with the correct automated process for his blood type.
  • Manages and monitors apheresis collections through product quality control.
  • As needed will acts as a member of the product quality control team which meets monthly. Investigates all nonconformance and design and implement CQI initiatives.
  • Routinely visit mobile drives, satellite operations and sub center operations to ensure the highest level of efficiency in the automated operations is taking place.
  • Ongoing review of key metrics for losses, split rates and platelet plus collections. Works with both DS leadership and contact center management to support metric improvement and goal achievement.
  • Identifies process or training needs and procedural changes, develops training plans with the Manager of Donor Services Training and coordinates implementation.
  • Assists with staff training as needed.
  • Assists DS leadership and supervisors in assessing the learning needs of the staff by monitoring proficiency, auditing reports for imcompletes and errors. Provides coaching and support to meet performance standards and departmental goals.
  • Motivate staff to keep a high morale level by ensuring staff needs are met.
  • Conduct meetings as needed with staff and supervisors to communicate changes and recognize outstanding performance.
  • Works with Recruitment to support recruitment of new donors and retain current donors, in addition to moving donors to optimal procedure types.
  • Investigates and supports new cell separator technology for improved operational efficiencies and assists with process changes in collaboration with the departmental management staff.
  • Reviews SOP'S and validation programs in conjunction with DS Tech Ops leadership to support ease of work and efficiency.
  • Works with the Operations Strategic Analyst to develop monthly quality reports on a system level, collection operation level and a staff member level.
  • Supports DS management to ensure success of the mobile platelet programs.
  • Performs and reviews validations / verifications as needed.
  • Remain competent in all areas of responsibility.
  • Control expenses and help increase revenue through the enhancement of work processes which improves efficiency.
