Job Title: Development Director

Job Position: Full Time

Salary & Benefit Range: $60,000; plus, defined bonuses, benefits, and retirement match. Salary negotiated based on education, experience, etc.

Job Description: The Development Director, working under the directive of the Executive Director and in collaboration with the Board of Directors, will plan, guide and execute the development efforts in soliciting donations (in-kind and monetary), fundraising, event planning and implementation, marketing and communications, and grant writing. They would be required to work on site at the shelter as well as off site, as needed, for all required programs/ fundraising activities.

Educational Requirements:

Must meet the requirements of oneof the following:

  • Master’s degree or higher and at least a year of experience in professional fundraising management, supervision, non-profit leadership, and two years of grant writing experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least four years of experience in professional fundraising management, supervision, non-profit leadership, and two years of grant writing experience.
  • Associate’s degree and at least five years of experience in professional fundraising management, supervision, non-profit leadership, and two years of grant writing experience.

Skills / Qualifications:

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite (Photoshop / InDesign), Canva, and social media marketing.

· Experience in web design/maintenance and digital communications/photography.

· Experience in non-profit marketing and compelling storytelling through varied collaterals that attract and capture new and existing donors.

· Experience in proposal writing for foundation grants and government grants at local, state, and federal levels with a track record of successful grant applications and securing funding.

· Experience with project management and grant compliance regulations.

· Strong writing ability, research skills, and attention-to-detail.

· Strong understanding of database management and customer relationship management (CRM) software.

· Self-starter and goal driven.

· Strong leadership qualities: positive attitude, respectful, demonstrate concern for people and community, have self-confidence, goal driven and must be a team player.

· Exceptional communication and organizational skills.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Duties / Responsibilities:

· Develop OLAMS fundraising strategy and timelines in collaboration with Executive Director and Board of Directors for project implementation and results.

· Manage all grant research, proposal writing, foundation relations and corporate giving strategies.

· Write and manage OLAMS grant program. Research and identify a wide range of grant opportunities to address and support the various needs of the shelter. Think strategically about how different grants opportunities apply to OLAMS. Substantially increase the number of local, state, and federal grants supporting OLAMS operations. Work with Executive Director and accounting department to manage awarded grants, including allocation, and reporting requirements.

· Maintain and develop content creation for all public facing interfaces such as social media pages, website, and email database. Use these platforms to effectively execute OLAMS brand management and marketing strategy. Use these platforms to drive online fundraising and donor stewardship.

· Expand OLAMS’ presence in the community by identifying opportunities for one-on-one conversations with key community stakeholders and organizations. Target speaking events and other fundraisers or fundraising opportunities to increase awareness of the organization.

· Manage community and stakeholder engagement through volunteers and volunteer opportunities. Identify and expand volunteer opportunities to relieve current time burdens on the staff. Be the point person for communicating with volunteers, vetting and educating volunteers, and be present during volunteer opportunities to insure successful volunteer events.

· Oversee and coordinate all fundraising activities; establish cross-functional teams of volunteers to plan and implement all events.

· Expand OLAMS’ partnership development by identifying services to support the shelter, mothers, and children.

· Lead and execute the annual Angels Gala, OLAMS largest fundraising event. Execution includes managing current sponsorship list and expanding sponsorships, planning and coordinating all event tasks and day of details including management of cross-functional teams for executing the event.

· Translate all community and donor-related activities into increased public engagement and donations.

· Track all donations and donor experiences using CRM software to quantify fundraising efforts and develop fundraising metrics. Manage and ensure all processes and systems for accepting any donation is accurate and efficient.

· Prepare and present a Development Director’s Report at OLAMS Board Meetings to communicate fundraising reporting and analytics.

Confidentiality is paramount to the residents as well as the shelter operations. All information related to residents, shelter finances, budgets, donor information, and any/all information that is sensitive or private should be maintained with confidence at time of employment and after.

A Confidentiality Agreement will be required upon employment.

An integrity/ethics document must be reviewed.

A background check will be performed.
