Our Turning Point is Hiring a Cook (Part Time- On Call) Near Minneapolis, MN

Position Summary

The Treatment Center Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious and appetizing meals for clients at the treatment center. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that clients receive healthy and balanced meals that support their recovery and overall well-being. Essential Functions 1. Menu Planning: Planning menus that meet the nutritional needs of clients and align with dietary guidelines and restrictions. Developing menus that are varied, balanced, and appealing to clients. 
 
2. Food Preparation: Preparing and cooking meals according to standardized recipes and portion sizes. Ensuring that meals are prepared in a safe and sanitary manner, following food safety regulations and best practices. 
 
3. Dietary Restrictions: Accommodating special dietary needs and restrictions, such as allergies, intolerances, or specific dietary plans prescribed by healthcare professionals. Modifying recipes and meal options as necessary to meet individual client needs. 
 
4. Inventory Management: Monitoring and maintaining inventory of food and supplies necessary for meal preparation. Ordering and restocking ingredients and supplies as needed, while minimizing waste and ensuring cost-effectiveness. 
 
5. Kitchen Organization and Cleanliness: Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment. Adhering to proper food storage and handling procedures. Cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas regularly. 
 
6. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborating with the treatment center's healthcare team to ensure that meals align with clients' individual treatment plans and goals. Communicating with clients to gather feedback, address concerns, and accommodate preferences, within dietary guidelines. 
 
7. Training and Support: Providing guidance and support to kitchen staff, if applicable. Ensuring that staff members understand and adhere to food safety practices, portion control, and proper meal preparation techniques.
 Qualifications & Experience - High school diploma or equivalent. Culinary training or certification is preferred. 
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a healthcare or treatment center setting. 
- Knowledge of nutrition, dietary guidelines, and special dietary needs. 
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices. 
- Ability to plan and prepare balanced, nutritious meals for a large group of people. 
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. 
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, healthcare professionals, and kitchen staff. 
- Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
