Outcome HC is Hiring an Associate General Counsel Near Lakewood, NJ

Outcome Healthcare is looking for a talented Associate General Counsel to handle a variety of legal issues relating to general health care transactions, corporate regulatory matters, litigation matters (liability and commercial), and other responsibilities as needed. Reporting to the General Counsel, this in-house counsel position will provide advice and recommendations for action to internal leaders regarding sophisticated matters with meaningful impact on business activities and operations. The ability to use good judgment, collaborate with others and develop and obtain approvals from senior leaders for situation specific strategies and approaches are keys to success.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide proactive legal advice to management on various business structure and contract issues, including related regulatory issues such as Stark, Anti-kickback, and Civil Monetary Penalties regulations.
  • Advise on various corporate governance matters.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret statutes and judicial opinions for their potential impact on the organization.
  • Examine and analyze relevant information to determine appropriate actions to take in defending or prosecuting claims and/or lawsuits.
  • Use prior knowledge and industry specific, historical experiences in resolving problems.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to other counsel in a highly collaborative fashion.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Company and external legal counsel, ensuring effective communication and management of legal matters.
  • Manage Company legal costs and oversee outside counsel spend.
  • Serve as litigation counsel on non-covered commercial and employment claims and administrative law matters under the supervision of the General Counsel.
  • Conduct all assignments as a professional and role model with a sense of urgency.
  • Continuously monitor changes in healthcare laws and regulations and proactively advise the organization on potential impacts.
  • Collaborate with various departments and teams within the organization to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Participate in the development of training programs and materials to educate employees on legal issues and compliance.
  • Participate in the development of corporate and legal policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Uphold ethical and legal standards in all aspects of the role, promoting a culture of integrity and compliance within the organization.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Company by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Serve as a key adviser on issues of governance, risk management, legal policy implementation, legal and regulatory issues, federal and state laws, regulations, internal and external communications relating to sensitive legal matters, strategic planning and execution, and special projects.
  • Perform duties consistent with role, including, but not limited to, providing legal advice, conducting legal research and analysis, negotiation, document/contract creation and review, claims investigation, litigation supervision, employee oversight, and complex project management.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to effectively communicate projects, regularly updating the General Counsel.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret issues and to prepare legal opinions.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills; spoken and written fluency in English
  • Strong negotiation, presentation and legal research skills.
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and exercise discretion and ethical behavior.
  • Proficiency with contractual terms and conditions required.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent time management and cross-functional and internal team collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook or other word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software.
  • Professional and responsive with email and communication lines.
  • Up to date with Continued Legal Education courses (CLE) and proactive about staying informed and self-educating to stay relevant and knowledgeable.
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationwide up to 10% of the time.
  • This job requires the use and exercise of independent judgment.

Minimum Education and Experience Criteria:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school required.
  • Qualified and licensed in good standing to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.Additional licensure in Maryland, Ohio, South Carolina, or Georgia a plus.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience practicing law (primarily litigation is a plus).
  • Experience with motion practice in Pennsylvania or New Jersey state court, and experience handling arbitration, mediation, and/or trial practice.
