Full-time Description Position: Health and Wellness Specialist Classification: Exempt Location: Overtown (Miami) Status: Full-time Salary $60K- $62,500K Department: Operations Benefits: 401K, Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Aflac, PTO & Paid Holidays September 2023 The purpose of the role of the Health and Wellness Specialist is to lead and coordinate mental health and physical wellness initiatives for OYC Miami and its targeted communities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and wellness programming, a deep understanding of mental health and physical wellness principles, and the ability to engage and empower individuals within our community to prioritize their overall well-being. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Development and Implementation
Design, develop, and implement comprehensive health and wellness programs with a focus on culturally appropriate, mental health and physical wellness for individuals of all ages within the community.
Collaborate with stakeholders to assess community needs, preferences, and trends to ensure program relevance and effectiveness.
Mental Health Initiatives:
Conduct mental health screenings with youth and adults
Develop and lead mental health workshops, seminars, and support groups to promote emotional well-being, stress management, and resilience.
Complete certification training with the Children's Bereavement Center in order to lead grief- support initiatives hosted by OYC Miami
Take lead in capacity building project for mental health service delivery framework within OYC Miami
Physical Wellness Initiatives:
Develop and sustain partnerships with medical and wellness providers who can provide services at OYC Miami locations (e.g., physicals, medical screenings, vision screenings, basic dental services, hearing screenings)
Collaborate with team to organize fitness, outdoor activities, sports, nutrition, and other wellness related activities to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles among youth, adults, and families
Update Recreation and Wellness Framework at least 2 times per year to provide guidance for Program Team on activities appropriate for K-12 students
Collaborate with local fitness experts, instructors, and professionals to provide diverse wellness opportunities.
Individual Support
Offer one-on-one consultations and guidance to community members seeking personalized wellness plans.
Provide referrals to appropriate mental health professionals or medical practitioners as needed.
Collaborate on intervention plans with other mental health professionals, medical doctors, nurses, social workers, peer specialists, program coordinators, and/or teachers
Evaluation and Reporting
Collect and analyze data on program participation, impact, and outcomes to continuously improve initiatives.
Prepare regular reports for organizational leadership and stakeholders detailing program success and areas for growth.
Training and Education
Train staff members and OYC Miami clients on mental health awareness, active listening, and promoting a supportive community environment.
Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in mental health and wellness.
Budget Management
Assist in developing and managing the budget for health and wellness initiatives, ensuring resources are allocated effectively

Requirements
Master's Degree in Mental Health, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Clinical Social Work (License Preferred)
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in health and wellness program development and coordination, with a focus on mental health and/or physical wellness
Knowledge of mental health principles, therapeutic techniques, and resources
Familiarity with various wellness modalities including both physical health and mental health practices
Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a non-judgmental approach to supporting individuals.
Moderate computer skills required: Microsoft Office/Word/ Excel/Using online systems
Relevant Training/Certifications as a Mental Health Professional
Must have a valid driver license and reliable transportation
Must pass drug screening and Level 2 background check
Required ability and willingness to work some evening and/or weekend hours as needed
