OWS Foods is Hiring a Quality Assurance Systems Specialist Near Concordia, MO

This role will report directly to the Food Plant Food Safety and Quality Manager.
This role will primarily perform the administrative functions of the OWS Foods Quality Systems daily. This will include a review of records from production and shipping to complete the positive release process.
This role will be responsible for timely communication to customers for required documents such as Certificates of Analysis (COA).
In addition, they will serve as the secondary practitioner of the GFSI audit schemes. This role will have an active role in all customer, third-party or regulatory audits at the facility.
Essential Functions of the Position:
  • Complete daily review of all required Quality Management System (QMS) documents both paper and electronic to verify and validate that documentation has been completed properly.
  • Write Corrective Action Reports (CAR) for deviations to the paperwork working with other departments to prevent deviations in the future.
  • Complete positive release of finished products.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of process and preventive controls and improve them continuously.
  • Draft, modify and implement plant policies and procedures.
  • Provides compliance and quality management system (QMS) guidance and answers compliance related questions/documents per FDA/FSMA.
  • Work alongside departmental teams to ensure compliance to requirements for products and labels.
  • Performs surveillance monitoring, (adenosine triphosphate (ATP), environmental, and allergen swabbing) generating information necessary to assess the effectiveness of the master sanitation programs.
  • Review performance of the Master Sanitation Schedule for completeness writing CARs as needed to correct deficiencies.
  • Facilitate workflows for new products, packaging, labels and product changes as they occur.
  • Coordinate non-conforming product issues including identification, segregation, disposition and corrective action of non-conforming product(s)
  • Support compliance audits (regulatory, human resources, or food safety related), third-party, and customer audits/inspections, and internal audits when necessary.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all teammates, working closely with managers and supervisors.
  • Revise SOP's and SSOP's
  • Serve as back-up to Quality Manager and Quality Technician role as needed.
  • Assist or lead training for regulatory compliance, food safety and quality related topics facility wide.
  • Available for other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum:
  • Associates' Degree in Food Science and/or technical training in related field and/or related experience
  • HACCP certified
  • Experience in Food Labeling - Compliance and Quality specifications
  • Experience with reporting via Excel, Google, ERP Systems
Preferred:
  • Batchelor's Degree in Food Science Related Field
  • 2 year's QA Compliance experience in dry food manufacturing
  • PCQI, SQF certified
  • HACCP certified
