We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Sr Petrophysical Data Advisor within our Subsurface Data Managementgroup based in Houston, Texas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining core and subsurface engineering data within the iPoint environment.
  • Understand, at an expert level, the iPoint data model with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues within the software.
  • Recommend innovated solutions and methodologies to streamline, automate or eliminate redundancies and non-productive time within current workflows and processes.
  • Test, debug, and provide database support worldwide.
  • Integrate machine, AI learning, and citizen development applications into workflows to optimize efficiency.
  • Lead, communicate, and implement company's petrophysical data management guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards for iPoint with the petrophysical teams and business unit personnel to ensure proper data alignment.
  • Implement and lead special projects that support business objectives and alignment.
  • Coordinate with petrophysical staff to organize best data management practices, write process and training documentation, and offer training for all worldwide end users.
  • Manage the petrophysical corporate data stores, master projects, and working projects to ensure that best data practices, standards, and guidelines are followed by the end-users.
  • Analyze, QC, and correct subsurface data issues, within the petrophysical databases.
  • Collaborate with other subsurface data management disciplines, application, and business teams to align database strategy with enterprise goals and initiatives.
  • Support and participate in specialized data management projects, collecting and organizing large datasets for worldwide petrophysics, business units, and subsurface data management.
  • Understand relational databases to assist with integrating key data sources and types for optimal user performance.
  • Create PowerBI dashboards for visualizations and analytical reporting
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geoscience, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience totaling 20 years of the management of log, core, and subsurface engineering data
  • Certifications in subsurface data management, latest cloud technologies like AWS/AZURE, or project management (PMP) are a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of petrophysical data (e.g. logs, core, geochemistry, paleo, biostratigraphy), and other tabular subsurface data (e.g. PVT) in the iPoint environment, generated during drilling, logging and completions operations, and common industry methodologies, tools, standards and processes used to receive, validate and manage these types of data.
  • Thorough understanding of SQL and hierarchical databases and writing database queries.
  • Subject-matter-expert in the administration of iPoint for digital core data and Recall for well log data.
  • Excellent knowledge of data load and integration techniques commonly used with a variety of software packages, such as, Recall, IP (Interactive Petrophysics), Techlog, Openworks, and Petrel Studio.
  • SME in implementation of best data management practices within the subsurface data environment.
  • Experience with the full lifecycle of a well for core and well log data.
  • Excellent working knowledge of drilling, coring, subsurface engineering, and logging operations.
  • Excellent working knowledge of geodetics, well and log headers, downhole units of measure, and API numbering standards.
  • Experience with 3rd party applications and data consortiums for well and log header information.
  • Quick study in applying quality control processes and software, such as Global IP Corporate Folder Structure, LasWorx tools, and Recall Dashboard, in the management of corporate well log data.
  • Ability to create, assemble, and present technical papers and presentations at internal and external conference.

  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Effective core and well log SME and team player who takes an active role in team and corporate data management initiatives.
  • Strong working knowledge of iPoint and general knowledge of other technical data bases that store log and core data (IE Recall, IP, Techlog, Openworks, Petrel Studio).
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills including abilities to extract, manipulate, correct, and analyze data using Excel pivot tables, reports, and scripts.
  • Natural leader with strong data management and people skills and the desire to accept new challenges, learn from, and act on them.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to provide effective mentorship and training.
  • Active listener who can understand complex and technical conversations about data issues and develop a creative solution.
  • Ability to stand before large and diverse audiences and present technical work products for meetings and conferences

Desired Qualifications:

  • OSDU Data Foundation hand on experience and knowledge are preferred.
  • Hand on experience with latest cloud technologies like AWS, Azure is preferred
