Job Description Summary: Minimum starting salary $25.50 / hr

The Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for clinical, administrative, and clerical duties to ensure that physicians and advance practice nurses are supported, and patients are comfortable. The Registered Medical Assistant will be trained in providing medical support to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health issues who are learning to manage aspects of their mental illness/substance use recovery.

Education:

Candidate must possess any of the following education to qualify for their position:

High school diploma or equivalent, required.
Associates Degree in Nursing, preferred.
Bachelors Degree in Nursing, preferred.

Responsibilities:

Assessments involve checking a patient’s vital signs, performing a physical exam and obtaining the patient’s medical history. Vital signs include blood pressure, pulse, breathing rate and temperature.
The physical exam involves measuring height and weight, as well as looking for deformities or irregularities on the patient’s body.
Obtains a medical history by asking patients questions about their medical conditions, medications and allergies. The medical assistant records any findings into the patient charts and alerts the physician of the results.
Patient care consists of helping patients with mobility, removing clothing covering afflicted parts and activities of daily living that include hygiene and toileting.
Prepare patient for testing, treatment and procedures that the doctor may perform.
Collection and processing of laboratory samples.
Registered Medical Assistant / Licensed Practical Nurse / Registered Nurse shall report to and perform other work-related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Crisis Services.

Physical Requirements:

Normal office environment.
Typical demands include prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator, and other office equipment as needed.
Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and to work irregular hours and deal with irate individuals.
