Position Overview:Ozinga seeks a seasoned Director of Corporate HR Operations to lead our human resources functions at our Mokena-based corporate office. This strategic corporate role encompasses overseeing payroll, benefits, HR projects, and Department of Transportation compliance, ensuring alignment with our organizational goals. This role includes direct oversight of the teams led by the Payroll Manager, Benefits Manager, Corporate DOT Compliance Manager, and HR Project Manager.
The Director of Corporate HR Operations reports to the SVP of Human Resources and collaborates closely with peers including the Director of Talent & Workforce Development and the Director of Learning & Development.
Your Role:Overall Corporate HR Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert professional advice to senior management in all areas of HR, including payroll, learning and development, employment law, HR policy, best practices, and workforce development.
  • Ongoing review and improvement of the company’s occupational health, employee programs, staff benefits, and packages.
  • Be accountable for company compliance with current regulations, professional standards, policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Develop effective employment policies in consultation with senior managers, executives, trade unions, staff, and partners.
  • Plan and create strategies to ensure achievement of the HR objectives.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of succession planning.
  • Implement a continuous improvement agenda with a focus on engagement and welfare activities, maximizing productivity, and building leadership capability.
  • Provide professional leadership, support, and development to HR staff, to increase knowledge, share best practices, and ensure professional standards are met.
Corporate HR Strategy and Development:
  • Utilize the HRMS system to eliminate administrative tasks, empower employees, and meet the needs of the organization.
  • Participate in organizational development to plan, communicate, and integrate the results of strategic planning throughout the organization, including personnel policies and procedures, EEO-1, Affirmative Action Plan, and the compensation program.
  • Protect the interests of employees and the company in accordance with the company's Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations.
Employee Relations and Management:
  • Oversee and manage the work of the Human Resources Operations team, encouraging their ongoing development.
  • Develop and monitor the budget that includes Human Resources services and benefits administration.
  • Develop talent and ensure that career progression is a focal point.
  • Partner with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws.
  • Advise and counsel managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, policy, and employment laws.
  • Provide a point of contact for employees to report harassment or violence concerns.
  • Consult with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the SVP of HR, on personnel matters.
  • Prepare periodic reports for management.
  • Participate in leadership, finance group, and company staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars.
Who We Are Looking For:
  • A strategic HR leader with a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and at least 8-10 years of management experience, specifically in managing and developing multiple teams of 10 employees; being bilingual is a plus, though not required.
  • Proven expertise in managing diverse HR functions within a unionized environment, with a strong focus on the design, execution, and oversight of cost-effective benefit plans and comprehensive Total Rewards programs.
  • Exceptional leadership qualities, showcasing advanced skills in communication, relationship management, and organizational development.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop talent effectively, enhancing team capabilities and individual career progression.
  • Strong analytical and data analysis skills, with a proven ability to generate insightful reports.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and respond quickly under tight deadlines.
