Bus Driver, Part-Time
Pace Academy, one of Atlanta's top independent schools, with an enrollment of 1,150 students in Pre-First through 12th grade, seeks a Bus Driver. This is a part-time, non-exempt position that works up to 29 hours per week. The bus driver operates a morning shuttle service from a designated location(s) to the school and transports Pace students to athletics events, field trips and summer programs.The position reports to the Director of Transportation in the Facilities Department. The ideal candidate will bring a strong work ethic, sense of humor and problem-solving skills. The ability to work independently, confidence in decision-making skills, sound judgment, punctuality, self-motivation and commitment to the work schedule is essential.
Essential Job Duties
Operates both regular school buses and mini buses in a safe and efficient manner on a route prescribed by the Director of Transportation
Operates Pace buses in accordance with the laws of the state of Georgia and the policies of Pace Academy
Conducts thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspection of the vehicle, including fueling
Provides maximum safety for passengers while on the bus and during loading and unloading
Maintains orderly conduct of student passengers
Reports unsafe acts or conditions which require the attention of any person other than the driver
Maintains bus route and sticks to a timely schedule as planned by the Director of Transportation
Completes legible and accurate required reports as needed
Keeps the assigned bus clean and sanitary at all times
Communicates effectively with their supervisor, parents and/or community members
Maintains CDL license, applicable endorsements and any other documentation required by Federal, state or local law
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Must be 18 years or older
Must have 2 years of driving experience with a good driving record
Must have a valid CDL B with Passenger and School Bus endorsements
Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check in accordance with Federal, state and local law
Annual physical examination with a clearance to work, must present physical card
Must be dependable
Physical Demands/Work Conditions
Extreme weather conditions to include heat, cold, wet and/or humid conditions
Potential exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals
Sitting for prolonged period of time
Lifting, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching
Upper and lower body mobility
Ability to lift equipment and/or student weighing 40 pounds
