  • Review reports, maps, topographic data, and aerial photographs to ascertain soil and landcover composition and other watershed hydrologic characteristics to develop rainfall-runoff estimates using computer modeling.

  • Use 2-dimensional hydraulic models to simulate the hydraulics of water flow through natural rivers and channels (HEC-RAS, SRH2D).

  • Assess open-channel and floodplain erosion and scour processes and develop mitigation strategies such as scour countermeasures considering environment and natural design.

  • Perform design calculations and clearly document supporting information, analysis and design decisions in presentations for review with clients.

  • Produce design plans using CAD software (Bentley MicroStation and Autodesk Civil3D).

  • Design stream complexity features such as engineered log jams and other Large Woody Material (LWM) features including the evaluation of stability of LWM structures.

  • Prepare floodplain impact assessment reports describing project effects on floodplain conveyance, mapped floodways and FEMA and local floodplain guidelines and regulations.

  • Coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines, wetland and watershed sciences, designers, and CAD technicians to synthesize information into clear design documents.

Who we are looking for:

Required qualifications:

  • EIT certification with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience in hydrology, hydraulics, fish passage, and/or stream restoration.

  • Experience in water resources planning and design.

  • A self-motivated, methodical, and organized problem solver that wants to learn and grow with an interdisciplinary team.

  • A person who takes initiative and shows attention to quality and detail.

  • Experience working with CAD software such as AutoCAD or MicroStation

  • Experience working with GIS software and spatial data.

  • Experience performing design calculations working with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software.

  • Strong analytical thinking and communication skills.
