Pacific Coast Producers (PCP), a growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking a talented and innovative Apprentice Electrician to join its team at its production facility in Oroville, CA. PCP is dedicated to investing in its people and fostering a culture of service, where each employee can do their best to make affordable, high-quality food for customers across North America. Our Oroville facility produces pears, peaches, fruit cocktails, and employs 169 full-time workers year-round and a seasonal work force of over 1,200. 

Pay Rate: $27.98 per hour. Full time/40 hours per week with some weekend and overtime hours required when needed. These positions are part of a seniority based collective bargaining unit and require work on various shifts with potential for a great deal of overtime during the processing season.

Primary job duties will include:

  • Plan, layout and install electrical circuits, wiring, equipment and or fixtures based on job specifications, local codes, practices, directions and/or manuals..
  • Organize projects by planning, making a material & parts list (Bill of Material) or other purchase requisition and proceeding accordingly.
  • Properly determines the necessary size of conduit, wire, circuit breakers and fuses in accordance with the NEC.
  • Install wiring, conduit, motors, switches, panels, fuse boxes, lighting and related equipment.
  • Test, time and/or calibrate circuits, electrical gauges, recording instruments and other related equipment or tools.
  • Diagnose & troubleshoot motors, switches, junction boxes, panels, circuit breakers and transformers or related equipment.
  • Recognize and correct potential failures before they occur.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints, charts, sketches, operating instructions and manuals to proceed accordingly.
  • Keep and maintain maintenance, performance and/or various types of measurement logs.
  • Use power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, oscilloscopes, multi-meters and other types of hand tools or measuring devices.
  • Observe, support and enforce food safety, safety policies and procedures, including housekeeping of personal storage areas and tool box.

Secondary Duties

  • May repair, rebuild and/or maintain cannery machinery or equipment.
  • May perform forklift operation in conjunction with moving equipment or parts.
  • May supervise or relieve other positions of equal or lesser qualifications.
  • May be required to check times or production cards and report to management or Lead CBA.
  • May oil, grease, clean and do crude brush painting of maintenance equipment.
  • May assist Instrument Technicians or Mechanics in assigned tasks.

Job Requirements:

  • Satisfactorily completed a two-year program relative to this field (electrical/instrumentation/controls); or
  • Comparable work experience, plus one year of formal training in this area; 
  • Must possess and use personal hand tools.
  • Reliable and able to maintain excellent attendance.
  • Basic hydraulic, pneumatic, and welding knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
