Department Overview
PG&E's Payroll Department is responsible for producing timely and accurate payroll payments for approximately 23,000 active employees and approximately 28,000 pensioners.
The Payroll Department complies with all employment tax reporting and payment requirements and works closely with our business partners to respond promptly and professionally to inquiries regarding payments and tax reporting.
The payroll department has a staff of 17 employees dedicated to providing world class customer service and moving PG&E closer to becoming the leading utility in the United States.
The Payroll Operations, Accounting and Tax team is responsible for handling payroll accounting, overpayments, garnishments, tax filings and payments, and the execution of payrolls.
The team leads Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) testing and documentation relative to Payroll controls and procedures.
Position Summary
This job is subject to collective bargaining.
We are looking for a customer service focused individual must be a self-starter, flexible, organized, thorough, comfortable with technology, and able to work in a fast paced, time and data sensitive work environment.
Major responsibilities may include processing incoming and outgoing mail, processing postage and assisting our clients with a wide range of pay related inquiries and requests.
The position requires diligence, attention to details and producing accurate and quality results in addition to maintaining focus under distracting work conditions coupled with a heavy workload.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate an ability to work with many levels of staff within the Company.
The Utility Clerk Accounting duties may be physical in nature with work duties that include loading / unloading, lifting, pulling and pushing carts.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting.
This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the starting hourly rate range for this position is $22.45 subject to collectively bargained wage increases.
Responsibilities :
Position responsibilities include processing payroll mail, updating and validating employee information in SAP
Processing Verification of Employment and Verification of Income (VOE / VOI) requests.
Must possess basic Excel, Outlook and computer skills.
Required to respond to emails, phone and fax inquiries including urgent requests as needed.
This is a Hybrid position that will necessitate showing up to the office 2-3 days per week as workload requires.
