Within Customer Care, Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s Customer Operations and Enablement (CO&E) organization develops and leads a customer centric operations organization that spans the entire “meter to cash” process, including meter testing, customer billing, payment processing, credit and collection policy, and rate experience, strategy, implementation and operations.
The Pricing Products organization focuses on driving positive customer experiences through an array of rates and pricing products that help customers better relate to and manage their energy usage. Pricing products increasingly takes advantage of SmartMeter capabilities that are currently being implemented across PG&E's service territory and integrates them with advancements in pricing products and online tools. The Net Energy Programs team within Pricing Products is specifically dedicated to owning the policy, implementation, and change management of the Net Energy Metering and Solar Billing Plan tariffs.
Position SummaryExtracts operations data for analysis, leadership support and responses to ad hoc data requests. Maintains operations tools & databases to ensure that it is kept up-to-date. Develops, maintains and enhances operational metric database tools for the broader analytics teams. Identifies and solves current gaps in data requirements and ease of access to ensure fast and consistent responses to leadership inquiries.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland, CA approximately 1 to 2 days per week, or more, based on business needs.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $122,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $194,000.00
Job Responsibilities
  • Works with Directors and Managers across functions to influence decisions.
  • Manages and ensures accuracy of very complex data extracts and list pulls, from initial request to presenting data results, with limited supervision.
    • Ability to pull and make sense of conflicting data from various data platforms such as Electric Grid Interconnection (EGI), the Advanced Billing System (ABS), and Teradata to quickly investigate customer escalations and to identify implementation defects/IT enhancements required to accurately bill customers on the complex solar tariffs.
  • Demonstrates and uses broad expertise in data processing and data analysis and applies this knowledge to a number of different issues.
  • Analyzes data using various advanced statistical tools to develop complex ad hoc reports, statistics, trends, profiles.
    • Examples include using statistics to select customer populations for marketing pilots, and developing statistical models to predict solar bill savings compared to non-solar customers.
  • Designs data analysis to achieve business objectives, process data, analyze data, write clear and concise data findings and tailor communications to specific audiences.
  • Creates automated data routines and processes for reporting and data delivery ensuring accurate data manipulation and data cleansing.
  • Organizational skills to develop a “data dictionary” of where common solar characteristics are stored across the various data bases mentioned above, to create a standardized intake process for data requests, and to effectively document how data was pulled in case of future related requests.
  • Provides new and innovative solutions and recommendations to enhance database(s) with new data sources and improved data processes.
    • Ability to drive change and write business requirements to get commonly used solar data characteristics into a singular location (Teradata).
  • Develops comprehensive reports and communicates clear, concise and actionable data analyses for clients.
    • Ability to create and maintain new self-serve reports in PowerBI
    • Ability to modify existing Tableau self-serve tools
    • Ability to develop solar customer forecasts which will inform critical business decisions like call center staffing and cost shift analysis related to rate implementation delays.
QualificationsMinimum:
  • Bachelors Degree in in Marketing, Business, Computer Science, Engineering or other related field or equivalent work experience
  • Job-related experience, 6 years
Desired:
  • Advanced skill in writing SQL queries using Oracle or Business Objects
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Familiarity with PG&E solar interconnection and billing characteristics
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel/Access (complex formulas, graphing, VBA)
  • Strong knowledge of base-SAS and programming language (such as Visual Basic, Perl, C)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Tableau or PowerBI.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience
  • Job-related experience, 8 years
