Safety and Health maintains knowledge of and interprets and determines regulatory compliance with safety and health regulations, policies, and public and organizational programs.
Position SummaryThe Workers’ Compensation Representative (WCR) will manage, review and adjust workers’ compensation claims in a timely, accurate, and cost effective manner. WCR ensures state mandated benefits are provided to industrially injured workers, as specified by the California Labor Code in a timely, fair, efficient, and cost effective manner.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $ 85,000
Bay Area Maximum: $ 127,000
California Minimum: $81,000
California Maximum: $121,000
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for time sensitive decisions to meet regulatory mandates. Demonstrates the ability to analyze and resolve issues, set strategies, negotiate settlements. Develops action plans to provide timely WC benefits, resolve issues and settle WC claims. Negotiates settlements with injured workers within the settlement authority extended by management.
  • Solicits information from injured workers, work locations, and medical facilities and claim history to determine WC Compensability.
  • Coordinate utilization review and medical management to ensure medical treatment is appropriate and authorized as necessary.
  • Evaluates the Company liability and establishes reserves based on the ultimate probable cost of the claim and in accordance with the state of California Self Insurance Plans regulations. Performs periodic re-evaluation of reserves to ensure adequate estimates of future liability are in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Identifies and handles cases that may involve Return to Work issues, FEHA, FMLA or other HR, Employment related issues, with guidance from legal counsel or the WC Sr. WCR or WC WCS.
  • Identifies potential fraud and initiates the investigation process. Manages potential 3rd party liability, and refers as appropriate.
  • Facilitates Early Intervention and return to work efforts with field supervisors, medical providers and injured workers. Coordinates offers of modified, alternative or regular work.
  • Communicates with internal external clients in a clear, concise manner, to appropriately administer benefits. Ensure all parties understand requirements and strategies. Acts as SME to resolve issues of a WC nature with client groups. May provide consulting services to various company lines of business, with regard to Workers’ Compensation in accordance with company policy, regulatory and state mandated requirements.
QualificationsMinimum:
  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • Experience in workers compensation claims handling, or related, 3 years
  • Experienced Claims Adjuster certification
  • Ability to comply with the continuing education and training requirements by the Department of Insurance
  • Ability to have or obtain Self-Insurance Administrator certification, California, within 1.5 years of job placement
