Status: Full-Time, 40 hours/week

Salary Information: Annual Minimum Salary-$102,700-Annual Maximum Salary-$174,600

Hiring Range: $49.38-$66.63

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Pro-rated based on hours/week.

Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.

The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Arts in Medical Science, and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five state region.

PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city of approximately 95,000 located in the south central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. General Summary:

The controller oversees the day-to-day operations of the finance department, emphasizing a collaborative, mission-driven financial management culture, and financial accountability. Assists units with strategic and administrative planning, financial projects, and general accounting guidance. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, internal control guidelines, and university procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

• Oversees all activities associated with the general ledger, including but not limited to, reviewing, and approving accounts payable, payroll, student accounts, fixed assets, cash management, investments and revenue entries, account reconciliations, and journal entries.

• Manages, supervises and trains assigned staff and monitors work in progress, reviews job performance consistent with department and university goals.

• Coordinate all regulatory tax filings including IRS Forms 990, W-2s, 1099s, and 1098-Ts and is responsible for contribution accounting, including endowment and net asset accounting.

• Manages preparation of monthly, annual, and ad hoc financial reports for management’s and the Board of Trustee’s use.

• Manages internal and external audits and prepares audit documentation and GAAP financial statements.

• Works collaboratively with Human Resources and the Department budget directors for preparation of the annual budget.

• Oversees grant and contract accounting in accordance with regulatory and other guidelines. 

• Performs other related duties as assigned and based on departmental need. 

Requirements

Education:

• Required: Bachelor's Degree

Experience:

• Required: 7-9 years
