Position Title:Assistant Environmental Superintendent (NEW)Reports To: Environmental SuperintendentPosition Summary:The Assistant Environmental Superintendent will be well-versed in regulatory environmental standards and will display leadership and confidence when assessing data analysis and risk assessment on projects. Will require interfacing with customers and government officials in high-level meetings and be able to engage with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Reports to the Environmental Superintendent
Advisor and Subject Matter Expert of the following:
Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)
Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plan (SPCCP)
Best Management Practice Plan (BMP)
Effluent Monitoring Plan (EMP)
National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit
Industrial Waste Discharge Permit (IWDP)
Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs)
National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NEHSAP)
Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act (EPCRA)
Heavy Weather Plan
Communicates with the Environmental Superintendent for environmental requirements
Collaborates with the Safety Superintendent for departmental requirements
Coaches, mentors, and assigns EHS Technicians on environmental tasks
Continues professional growth and cross-training to understand the full scope of the EHS Department
Monitors, evaluates, and enforces Environmental programs
Conducts environmental sampling and provides guidance with lab analysis
Performs Shipyard Competent Person duties
Conducts tasks and maintains administrative files as required by the EHS Manual, NPDES permit, IWDP permit, and other requirements
Provides training as necessary to meet the requirements of regulatory agencies, the EHS Manual, and to ensure the ongoing environmental education for the employees
Maintains environmental training records
Assists with Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to ensure employees take required precautionary measures in the environmental arena
Maintains HAZ/Non-HAZ waste site(s) and materials
Establishes Environmental Protection Plans for projects
Performs duties as outlined by the NAVSEA Standard Items, EM 385-1-1, and federal regulations
Interface with regulatory agencies and customers as needed
Perform other duties as assigned

Education/Training:
NPDES Permit experience preferred
Minimum of 5 years of environmental experience in the marine repair/construction industry preferable
OSHA 10-hour maritime, construction or general industry certification
HAZWOPER 40-hour certification preferred
EM-385-1-1 certification preferred
First Aid / CPR certification required
Confined Space Competent Person certification preferred
Ability to effectively operate office equipment, to include desktop computers, calculators, printers, copy machines and telephones
Qualification/Requirement:
Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States
This position requires US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access
Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites
All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and background check before employment begins. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification
Valid State of Hawaii drivers’ license in good standing
Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites on time for the start of a shift
