Job Summary:

Paducah Dermatology, PLLC is looking for a detailed-oriented Medical Coder & Biller to join our team. The ideal candidate would be responsible for charge verification, ICD-10 coding and compliantly submitting practice claims for payment. Managing patient accounts using knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes by performing the following duties.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

• Demonstrates the ability to accurately determine CPT and ICD-10 codes for daily charges as determined by the physician.
• Chart adjudication and charge review prior to releasing claims.
• Reviews patients’ demographics and insurance information and completes all necessary billing screens as per office policy
• Performs entry and attachment of insurance authorization numbers required for submission.
• Answers calls from patients regarding their account.
• Answers calls from other office staff, regarding insurance/authorizations etc.
• Contacts patients to perform collection actions, corrects patient insurance information, and resubmits claims as necessary.
• Processes and balances any Self Pay payments.
• Provides supporting documentation to insurance carriers as needed for maximum reimbursement as required.
• Utilizes insurance carrier websites to check status of unpaid claims and patient eligibility.
• Actively participates in meetings with other Practice groups that provide feedback on compliance issues.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• HS diploma or GED required
• Two (2) years of medical coding and billing experience
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes
• Equivalent combinations of education and work experience will be considered.

Computer Software: ModMed practice management system and Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and Word.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Computer proficiency includes word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
• Good communication skills including verbal and written communications.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Problem solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization structure.
• Some analytical ability to gather and summarize data, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.
• Must be detail-oriented and well organized.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and data files.
• Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

Environmental Conditions:

Job Type: Full-time
