Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Records Specialist. As a Records Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining medical records in a medical office setting. This is a vital role in ensuring accurate and efficient record-keeping for patient care.
Duties:
- Organize and maintain medical records in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
- Review and verify the accuracy of patient information in medical records
- Ensure that all medical records are properly filed and stored securely
- Retrieve and prepare medical records for patient appointments, referrals, or other requests
- Assist healthcare providers in locating specific medical records as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations when handling sensitive patient information
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and complete documentation of patient care
- Assist with data entry and record updates in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Perform routine audits of medical records to identify any discrepancies or errors
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred
- Previous experience working with medical records or in a medical office setting is highly desirable
- Familiarity with medical terminology and basic understanding of healthcare processes
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
