Palette Hotels is Hiring a Human Resource Generalist (Hotels) Near Dallas, TX

Company Overview: Palette is a full-service hospitality management company built by owners for owners. We provide a wealth of resources to hotel owners including sales & revenue management, operations leadership, PIP and Capital expenditure expertise, risk management, construction management, human resources, and IT. Our corporate team is just under 30 people and growing. We currently manage a portfolio of thirty hotels across eight states. Our leadership team comes from a diverse range of backgrounds including major hotel brand operations, ownership, development, and tech startups. We are comfortable questioning the status quo to innovate and move the industry forward to provide the greatest value to our partners, owners, and employees.
Job Overview: As a Human Resource Generalist at Palette Hotels, you will play a crucial role in supporting the HR department's functions across our portfolio of hotels. You will be responsible for various HR responsibilities, including employee relations, employee engagement, onboarding/offboarding, payroll support, employee benefits and leave management, compliance and general admin duties.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Employee Relations:
  • Serve as the main point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries, concerns, and requests.
  • Address employee relations issues promptly and professionally, ensuring fair and consistent resolution.
Employee Engagement:
  • Develop and execute initiatives aimed at recognizing and rewarding employees for their contributions, achievements, and celebrations.
  • Plan and manage regular employee satisfaction surveys to gauge the overall morale and engagement levels within the workforce.
  • Establish and maintain annual and quarterly engagement initiatives including annual parties and quarterly employee events.
Onboarding/Offboarding:
  • Coordinate onboarding efforts for various positions within the hotels, including sourcing candidates, supporting interviews, and facilitating the onboarding process.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and develop effective strategies.
  • Coordinate the seamless departure of employees from the organization by overseeing all aspects of the offboarding process.
Payroll Support:
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of employee data to the third-party payroll provider for payroll processing.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll-related inquiries and issues. Provide guidance and support to employees regarding payroll processes, policies, and documentation requirements
Benefits:
  • Assist employees in understanding benefit options, eligibility criteria, and coverage details, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Facilitate the FMLA process by providing employees with necessary forms, guidelines, and assistance in completing paperwork.
  • Receive and review benefit enrollment, changes, and termination requests from employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Compliance
  • Ensures timely processing of workers' compensation claims, serves as the primary point of contact for employees involved in workers' compensation claims, and collaborates with insurance carriers to facilitate the claims process.
  • Organize and facilitate safety training programs for employees to ensure they are aware of potential hazards and understand how to perform their work safely.
  • Serve as a point of contact for addressing employee escalations and grievances. Help support thorough investigations into employee complaints, ensuring fair and equitable resolution.
HR Administration:
  • In partnership with other Generalists and HR Director, regularly review and update existing HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance and alignment with company goals.
  • Develop and implement efficient systems for organizing and managing HR documentation, including employee handbooks, policy manuals, and procedural guides.
  • Collect incoming mail and oversee the handling of on-site critical documents addressed to the HR department, ensuring timely responses as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Remote position, but must be based in the Dallas metro area for potential on-site visits. Ability to travel within the local area.
  • Highly preferred bachelor's degree in human resources, or certification in related field.
  • 3 years of experience in HR roles, preferably in the hotel industry.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience with payroll processing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in HRIS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is ideal as our team is multi-lingual with heavy emphasis on first-language Spanish speakers.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
