SummaryPalo Alto University (PAU) is seeking a skilled IT Systems Administrator to join our team. This role is instrumental in ensuring the reliability and optimization of our critical IT systems. Specific Duties And Responsibilities
  • System Maintenance: Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot all IT systems to ensure their availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Daily Operations: Respond to system alerts, incidents, and service requests promptly to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  • Solution Development: Collaborate with IT teams to develop innovative solutions that enhance system functionality and efficiency.
  • Security: Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with best practices and regulations.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • End User Support: Provide technical support and assistance to faculty, staff, and students as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to align IT solutions with the university's goals and objectives.
  • System Upgrades: Plan and execute system upgrades and patches in a manner that minimizes impact on operations.
  • Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.

  • Degree Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Years of Experience: 5 years' experience as an IT System Administrator or similar role.
  • Proficiency in system administration, including servers, networks, and storage solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing security measures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Operating Systems & Software: Proficiency in administering various operating systems, including Windows Server, Windows 10/11, macOS, Zendesk, and 2FA
  • Networking: Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and configurations, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewalls.
  • Virtualization: Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware.
  • Cloud Services: Familiarity with cloud platforms like Google Workspace, email platform and the ability to manage cloud resources effectively.
