COMMIS CHEF at Destination Geneva National

Located in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin’s top resort town, Destination Geneva National is a popular spot for golfers, foodies, and vacationers alike and GN’s Clubhouse is the hub of all activity and home to turf and Member Tap, the two restaurants that service resort guests and private membership. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Follow recipes and instructions from the Head Chef, Sous Chef, and Junior Sous Chef.
  • Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, and measuring as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, checking for quality and proper storage conditions.
  • Participate in kitchen operations, including prepping, cooking, and plating dishes.
  • Learn and adhere to all kitchen safety protocols and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the culinary team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Take direction and feedback from senior chefs to improve skills and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Some experience in a professional kitchen environment is preferred, but not required.
  • Current enrollment in a culinary program is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop culinary skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity for handling kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Capability to bend, stoop, and reach overhead frequently
  • Endurance to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Visual acuity to ensure the quality and presentation of dishes
  • Ability to handle repetitive motions, such as chopping, stirring, and whisking
  • Capacity to work long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
