Panasonic Corporation of North America is Hiring a Sustainability Project Specialist Near Washington, DC

Overview

Sustainability Project Specialist will support Group Manager, Energy and Sustainability on internal strategy and management of human rights, carbon, and supply chain issues.

Responsibilities

What You'll Get To Do:

  • Support implementation and ongoing management of track and trace software; work with OEM customers to understand sustainability expectations and communicate data and other relevant information
  • Support Group Manager, Energy and Sustainability on internal strategy and management of human rights, energy procurement, decarbonization, and supply chain issues for Panasonic Energy
  • Work with internal and external experts on emissions accounting, LCA analysis, energy procurement, and human rights due diligence

Scope

  • Position will report directly to Group Manager, Energy and Sustainability
  • No direct reports, but work closely with other PEXNA and PECNA staff and manage consulting teams
Qualifications

What You'll Bring:

Education and Experience

  • 4 years of experience in sustainability reporting or supply chain transparency
  • In-depth knowledge of emissions management and/or human rights due diligence
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required. Master’s Degree (MBA, MPP, MA, etc) welcome

Competencies

  • Team player – work collaboratively with GPA office, PEC/MEBD/PENA, and other businesses
  • Flexibility - Ability to be flexible and take on assignments not directly related to portfolio
  • Experience in sustainability strategy or reporting, social or environmental expertise welcome – candidate need not have both
  • Extensive project management expertise
  • Expertise in Powerpoint, Excel, Power BI, Professional writing
  • Cross-cultural fluency and past experience in multi-lingual, multi-cultural work environment

Communications

  • Strong communication skills – particularly writing and public speaking
  • Ability to work within a complex, global company

Other Requirements

  • Position is hybrid with strong preference given to candidates in Washington, DC; Reno, NV; or De Soto, KS.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to analyze issues
  • Ability to travel and represent company in public forums

Highly-valued Skills, NOT required of applicants:

  • Japanese language written and spoken
  • SaaS implementation and management
  • Expertise in any of the following areas: GHG protocol, Life cycle analysis, human rights due diligence, supply chain mapping, forced labor policy
  • Knowledge of key regulations, including US Inflation Reduction Act, Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, and EU Battery Regulation
  • Public speaking and or sales experience

The salary or hourly wage range of $94,000 – $105,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. *The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
