Medical Secretary will perform secretarial duties using specific knowledge of medical terminology and clinic procedures. Responsibilities will include scheduling appointments, billing patients, and compiling and recording medical charts, reports, and correspondence. Responsibilities include:Greets visitors, ascertains purpose of visit, and directs them to appropriate staff.Interviews patients to complete documents, case histories, and forms such as intake and insurance forms. Compiles and records medical charts, reports, and correspondence using a computer and various software programs. Transmits correspondence and medical records by mail, email, or fax.Schedules patients next appointment, prints appropriate documents, to include lab orders and appointment reminders.Answers telephones and direct calls/messages to appropriate staff.Receives and routes messages and documents such as laboratory results to appropriate staff.Maintains medical records, technical library, and correspondence files.Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.Qualifications:High school diploma or GED required.1 year of office experience required; 2 years preferred.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.Knowledge of Athena EMR preferred but not required.
