Reports to: Fulfillment, Supervisor Pharmacist
Purpose:
The Fulfillment Pharmacy Technician prepares medications (including sterile compounded and/or sterile repackaged preparations) for patient consumption under the general supervision of a licensed pharmacist, and in accordance with federal and state laws, and PANTHERx Specialty Pharmacy policies.
Responsibilities:
- Assists pharmacists with the preparation of sterile compounded medications for various routes of administration (IV/IM/SC).
- Assists with documentation of compounding activities according to regulatory requirements.
- Maintains a clean and sterile work environment by following aseptic technique principles.
- Stays informed about relevant compounding procedures and best practices.
- Assists pharmacist(s) with fulfillment duties.
- Communicates with staff about sufficient inventory quantities regarding medication delivery.
- Fulfills of prescriptions including, but not limited to: product receipt, lot tracking, counting medications and shipper coordination.
- Organizes of medication product on designated shelves.
- Gathers of supply items that are included on a delivery ticket.
- Creates supply kits for specified programs.
- Communicates with RxARECARE and Core Specialty team members.
- Additional projects and activities as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Prior experience in sterile compounding pharmacy or hospital setting.
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique principles.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 1 year experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) licensure.
- 2-4 years’ experience as pharmacy technician.
- 1-3 years of specialty pharmacy experience.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a well-lit, mail order distribution pharmacy environment. Role routinely uses pharmaceutical equipment and safety supplies.
Physical Demands:
Individual must be able to stand for extended periods of time; lift up to 20 pounds; and utilize the computer and bar code scanner. Must be able to use proper personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, gloves, eye protection and face masks when needed.
