Summary:

SUMMARY: Responsible for providing the leadership, direction and resources necessary to safely and effectively manage the electrical and instrumentation function. Implements all aspects of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM). Assigns E&I Team Members to daily and weekly maintenance jobs based on established schedules, and supervises employees in assigned tasks. Enforces plant rules and safety policies and procedures including housekeeping.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage, direct, develop, and supervise activities and initiatives to provide a safe work environment through the proper use of equipment, identification of hazards, sharing of knowledge and the development, implementation and enforcement of safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Ensures compliance with NFPA 70 (Arc Flash) and serves as mill expert and trainer for all employees.
  • Assigns crews to daily jobs based on work priorities and established schedules.
  • Instructs crew regarding job requirements and methods of repairing, servicing, and rebuilding equipment.
  • Checks maintenance work in progress to assure proper workmanship and adhere to schedule.
  • Performs root cause analyses and devises corrective action plans to solve problems.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative working relationship between management and unions.
  • Provides opportunities for training hourly personnel to improve job performance.
  • Assists crew in the diagnosis of equipment difficulties and specifies the extent and nature of the corrective actions to be taken.
  • Determines schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priorities, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel Tours mill and areas of maintenance responsibility to discover potential maintenance problems. Checks and expedites work in progress, and approves completed projects.
  • Coordinates their schedule with those of other Maintenance Supervisors to accommodate changes in work priorities or jobs requiring multiple maintenance disciplines to complete.

  • Ensures that necessary parts are on-hand for assigned jobs and machine shutdowns. Completes requisitions for spare parts and special tools and submits via purchase order entry system.
  • Establishes and adheres to approved plan of building and facilities maintenance.
  • Provides leadership for personnel assigned to their department.
  • Assists in maintaining the mill preventative maintenance program
  • Monitor progress of on-going jobs and projects to ensure they are completed on-time and in line with job specifications.
  • Assist Maintenance Superintendent and other Maintenance Supervisors in investigating, diagnosing, and evaluating major equipment malfunctions and develop methods and procedures to improve operating efficiency of equipment.
  • Is responsible for safety OSHA recordable rate (RCR) of direct reports.
  • Performs duties as deemed necessary by the Maintenance Superintendent.
Qualifications:

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School or GED. BS, BA, or other comparable certification preferred.
  • Eighteen months of education and training beyond high school level in general maintenance and repair, or a closely related area.
  • 5-10 years experience in general maintenance or other maintenance responsibilities that would include the ability to recognize electrical and instrumentation malfunctions or equipment failures. Formal training in related fields will substitute on a year-for year basis.
  • Skilled in PM/PdM (preventative and predictive maintenance)
  • Experienced in FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
  • Experienced in utilizing CMMS systems
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance techniques
  • Expert level project management skill and use of project management software
  • Knowledgeable in the theory and use of vibration analysis
  • Knowledgeable in the theory and application of lubrication technology, analysis, and management.
  • Able to utilize the practical applications of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of goods and services
  • Able to use design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Able to apply physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical, electrical processes
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Able to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
