Paradise Queen Hawaii is hiring full-time permanent beekeepers in Kea’au, Hawaii. No beekeeping experience necessary!

ABOUT US:Paradise Queen Hawaii has been raising queens and producing honey in Hawaiian Paradise Park since 2012. We specialize in breeding VSH queen bees that are naturally resistant to one of the main honey bee pests – the Varroa mite.

We are a family-owned business that is passionate about our bees and our people. We also operate Kona Queen Hawaii, one of the largest producers of queen bees in the world. Both companies work together to support the country’s beekeepers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 51 pounds
Ability to reliably commute to our Hawaiian Paradise Park location in Kea’au for a 7am start time
Ability to sit, stand, bend, and crouch throughout the day
Ability to work in various weather conditions
Ability to work on rough and varied terrain

Valid driver's license with clean driving history preferred but not required

WHAT TO EXPECT:
Our work schedule is generally Monday through Friday from 7am - 4pm. There are occasional longer days and weekends as the season requires. We provide a veil, hive tool, smoker, as well as reimbursement for quality work boots and rain gear.

Daily Tasks May Include:

· Maintaining Beehives

o Feeding, Pulling Honey, Treating for Pests and Diseases as Needed, Relocating hives as needed

· Maintaining Bee Yards

o Trimming / spraying vegetation, etc.

· Catching Queens

· Honey Extracting

All beekeepers may be asked to perform other tasks as needed. NOTE: We are not an organic operation and candidates must be willing and able to work with the hive / yard treatments required of the position. Employees will be provided with proper safety equipment as needed.

COMPENSATION:
Paradise Queen determines salary based on experience. The starting wage is $19/ hour. Experienced beekeepers may start at a higher rate. Performance-based raises and growth within the company are available for qualified candidates.
